So I called up a local shop who was doing a good deal on the D60 with a free bag etc. They said they had one in stock.

Went to the shop and noticed that their D60 display unit wasnt there. 2+2 anyone?

So I said to them I wanted a brand new D60 please. So hopefully I'll get my mits on it on Tuesday.

They managed to blag a Clear UV Filter lens for 7 quid. They claimed that its best to use them to prevent scratches on your lens. Bull or truth?

Anyway I just want to take this opportunity to say thank to the OCUK photography masses who gave me advise regarding DSLR cameras over the past few months. Appreciated :)

Congrats on the purchase....welcome to the money-sucking world of photography :D

Had to run off earlier and wanted to be first reply :p

Thanks Beansprout :)

Any ideas with regard to my memory question? I managed to find an 8GB SD stick which is the same price as the 2GB Sandisk Extreme III.

Is it worth me going for extra capacity or faster access?

Infact can D60's accept 8GB SDHC for that matter?

The extreme III will naturally be the better card. Faster and probably more reliable. However, don't get either on the highstreet as they're a lot cheaper online.

Don't know much about the evil side of photography, I only walk the path of light (Canon), you see....but in general the better the camera the better use it can make of a faster card. Also when transferring to PC from a card reader you'll see benefits :)

So when flicking through photos on the device itself, it would be much quicker using the Extreme III stuff?
Would it be laggy on the 8GB standard? (and would 8GB be compatible with a D60?)

Thanks all ;)

AFAIK the D60 accepts SDHC cards fine, so 8gb would be fine. There isn't going to be any noticable difference when reading the photos from the card on the camera - that's not the point of the high speed cards. There will be a difference in speed of transfer to a PC, but that's not the main point either. The point of the faster cards is that they are able to write a lot faster, which clears the buffer faster when doing continuous shooting.

I think that generally a lot of people would tell you that 2x 4Gb cards would be better anyway in terms of reliability. You put all your eggs in one basket if the card corrupts if you're using an 8Gb card ...

Hmm that is a good point.

Bah... more choices.

Hmm I seem to have stumbled across SD cards which have integrated USB interface as well (one of those flip open affairs).

Are these any good?

It seems to be a matter of shell out the same amount as a 8GB but get the 2GB Extreme III flavour.

Howabout the Ultra II version? Is that any good? (the USB one)

I've personally just stuck with Extreme III cards in my 350D. I started with a 1Gb and now I use a 4Gb. It's up to you, but that's what I'd recommend really.

Thanks again all.

I've gone with Sandisk 2GB Extreme III for 12.99 delivered.
I think thats a fair price. And if I want more, can always buy another 2GB.
I mean 12.99 is cheap as chips considering they were charging 31 quid in the shop

Whoopy :D Its arrived!
I've sent the wife to go and collect it.

But I wont have my memory card till tomorrow at the very least. Bah :|

And just as I speak this, a squirrel that I want to take a picture of is just climbing the tree infront of my office window.
