well, i thought i would explain why i hate them.

i had a nokia 6680, which after about 8 months of a 18 month contract, (dec 05)started to freeze, not switch off and get cut off whilst using it amongst other things.
according to phones 4 u, their policy was to return it for repair. to cut the story short it had to be returned 3 times!!!
in the end, p4u, replaced the phone with a phone of my choice, i chose a 6280. placed the simcard from old phone into the new one and charged it. within 24 hours the phone wouldnt start up!! (i wasnt happy)
i took it straight back to the shop, and they couldnt believe it, and gave me a second replacement 6280, but they said dont put the simcard in as that might be faulty. they ordered one on 7th of this month. on 14th, still not received it, so went back to shop and complained, 3 hadnt sent one cos p4u hadnt informed them of the second replacement phone. this was done and they would send me a new simcard, of which im still waiting for!!!! (20th march)
3 have said they will refund one months bill, but i have lost interest in them now.
p4u have suggested reducing tariff to lowest and taking out a new contract with some of their good deals of the week..........i really dont know.....what you reckon????

cheers cocker92

I was in a similar position. Had a 6680 on vodaphone, had it 7 months and just cant stand it anymore. I got a shiney new D800 on Sat from P4U and phoned vodaphone to drop my tarriff to the lowest possible, which is £20 a month (anytime 75). Now I just need to sell my 6680.

Three are awful.

I am really liking the T-Mobile Flex 35 contract I'm on. I've not been off it and it's still got £153 on it to be spent before April 10th.

they suggested a t-mobile contract and showed me a samsung d600. i think it was £160 or 180 monthly allowance and 3 cashback payments of £70, at 6-12-18 months.

yea three suck but, everything uve said there s p4u's policy not threes. doesnt sound like its three's problem, i work for t-mobile and most of our problems come from DialAPhone and p4u.

Seems like P4U has messed up. Being a former employee (Customer Service Manager and the only technical guy in the West End region  ), the knowledge of some people at P4U is rather poor.

The SIM card shouldn't have any problems, I'd put the blame on the phone P4U supplied initially as it is most likely a "white box" phone, a used phone that was returned after the 14-day cooling period or repaired and deemed worthy to be sold.

I won't go into exact details (as it goes on the edge of fraud which P4U as a whole isn't too good handling with) but one reason why the handset won't work is because it has been blacklisted or the repair done to it was poor.

If you still have your SIM card, stick it into the phone, power it up and it should work fine.

Next time, if your phone is faulty and within warranty, take it to a Carphone Warehouse repair centre instead. All you need is the phone and proof of purchase :)

I've had a 6680 on 3 for about 7 months now, can't really fault it been completely happy with them and the phone so far.
Though something i've found out from this 6680 and the 6630 (on orange) I had before it they will get flakely if you mess with them a lot, installing/removing software etc. Just like a PC really a good format and reinstall has always sorted mine out, as long as you don't mess all the time it'll be fine.

This must be the bit where all the network's employees appear.

As someone who works for 3, more specifically dealing with retailers - all I can say is its certainly Phones 4 U who is at fault here. (apologies to anyone that works there however lets just say that the company don't always make the networks life very easy)

A few things, firstly the phone has been faulty so it has been exchanged. Can I ask why you are requesting a replacement USIM? As its very unlikely that it would have been causing the fault, the main reason being is that there is a few 6280s which have been having issues.

I also hope that Phones4U are covering the cost of the replacement USIM £15+VAT which it is essentially not needed. [unless the charge was waved]

From the point of order, a replacement USIM usually takes 3 to 5 working days to arrive at a customer's address (dependant on the nice people at Royal Mail).

Also I noticed that they are asking you to drop the price plan - and sign up with them again. Sounds like they are just interested in the commission - afterall, you are still going to have that 3 contract, even at £20/mo it does mount up.

Just get the 6280 sorted then you will be alright. Saving money in the long term without having to pay money out that you don't have to and get another credit check done. Oh and pester P4U for something as they failed to order a replacement USIM for you.

For everyone: If you go into a mobile phone retailer and they say they will do something. Stay with them until they either give you proof they have done it or you physically talk to the retailer support in store (called Channel Support in 3) otherwise there is the chance that you will get the same problem as above.

.

thanx guys for your info....
im not asking to replace the sim, its p4u suggesting the simcard is faulty as its been in the repaired 6680 all of the time AND the first new 6280. i would have expected the 6280 to be brand new as i had a choice of any of the phones in the shop. yes they are covering simcard replacement.

i am not interested in signing up with p4u anymore, let me tell you!!

ps...still not got it !! all i want is a bloody phone. i do have my old simcard here, but dont want to put it in, do something to the phone and waste even more time.

Putting the SIM card into the phone won't do any damage to it unless you put it in wrong, the phone is already damaged or is blacklisted. If the phone works and your current SIM works, there is nothing stopping you from using it except yourself :p

can someone please confirm something with me before i go MAD

the sim card in a 6280 goes in as follows
remove cover and battery.
insert simcard so that the goldcontacts on card make contact with phone and the cut off on simcard is on the bottom right.

ive got the simcard and it states sim card registration NOT SUCCESSFULL

before i go BACK to p4u, i want to make sure im not chimping about.

3 said the phone is not blaocked and i need to find out is simcard is faulty or phone

ive done well not swearing so far !!

If indeed it is a faulty USIM, the best thing to do is take it to P4U and get them to try that USIM in another handset. That way we will know if its the USIM or the handset that is at fault.

ive been back, the sim has not had any of my info transfered to it!! and the old sim card doesnt work. its def the simcard. tried it in other phone
3 suggested sending me another new...lovfl
the manager has asked them to cancel the contract. they have offered to just refund my line rental from 9th march, although ive hardly had a phone in my possesion since 15th dec !!
3 say they might be able to get it activated in 48hours. im away tomorrow at 06.00 !!!
to be honest phones 4 u are trying but 3 dont give a toss

But the company has done everything that you have asked it to do. We have repaired your phone 3 times (on the third repair you would have been given a replacement handset).

[although I certainly don't know why P4U gave you a new handset, that doesn't make sense]

Then we sent a replacement USIM out. For whatever reason, that was delayed - however it would have left 3 at a maximum of 48 hours after being ordered (however I have never seen it anywhere near that).

If the replacement USIM that has been ordered does not have any data on it, then we accept the issue here and can refund some of your line rental charges.

3 say they might be able to get it activated in 48hours. im away tomorrow at 06.00 !!!
Not sure what you mean by this?

If the USIM is blank then this won't be possible. If the USIM is working but just needs activated, then that will be done and usually works within a few hours...

wow a 3 rep.........
if the best 3 can do is send my phone away for repair, taking upto 6 weeks at times. and this happens 3 times, because it was never repaired properly.........thats not a good service. (still paying, for no phone)
p4u as part of a good will gesture on 3s behalf (their words not mine) exchanged the phone.
knackered within 12 hours of receipt.gave me a new one (p4u NOT 3)
sent me a simcard eventually.(2 weeks) but is not registered.
ive had the phone on for 12 hours. and it isnt working!! all this time still paying £45 and 3 happily taking it, although i havent got a phone!!
the request was placed on the 9th for the simcard............how long does it take to get registered for *** sake.
so far 3 have done nothing for me. ive even waited for phone calls that after 2 days, have never come! they ask me to wait for 3-5 more days for another!! who are they kidding.

ive carried on this thread now to show others the experience im getting from 3...............

would you want this from a company at £45 per month LOVFL

When I work for the company, specifically in the department that retailers call - these are the things that I know about, so I thought it was best to provide you with some insight.

Something isn't right. As 3 have a repair system where your phone is picked up, repaired and returned to you within 3 working days. 6 weeks doesn't sound right at all. Are you leaving the phone in the store? As P4U might just have been forgetting to book the handset in for repair.

As I said before, if the handset has been booked in for a 3rd time, we do recognize that there is a problem that can't be fixed, therefore we provide you with a new handset.

Therefore this suggests to me a possible issue with P4U. Did you happen to get any repair reference numbers from when you booked your handset in for repair? (should be in the format 1468####)

Re: USIM. I'm still not sure what the problem is. Can you confirm that USIM that you were sent from 3 is not working and you are awaiting on another one to arrive? (I'm still a little confused by your mentioning of awaiting 48 hours or you have had the handset on for 12 hours, what is this for?)

the phone was always returned to the store and sent from there.

it was allegedly fixed for 3rd time, then went faulty 1 week later

p4u provided me with new handset, NOT 3

p4u have all paperwork concerning repairs

the usim sent from 3 DOESNT WORK, in my phone or any other ones, my old usim doesnt either, which apparently means the old usim has been cancelled (or whatever) but new one has never been activated since being requested on 9th

i am not waiting for another one to arrive, 3 say give it a few more days (48) and see what happens, if nothing gets activated ring up again lol

well i have been waiting for a good working phone since dec 15th, so y not wait a few more days.

dont take it personal m8, my experience with 3 is ****

Phones 4U have an inhouse repair centre known as 'MPRC', they probably sent your handset to them who inturn have sent it to Three to be repaired (hence the lengthly delay) the sales advisor should have told you to get directly in touch with Three repairs as their turnaround is way better than that of Phones 4U.
