Its such a drab time hole!!!

If any of you listen to mitchell and webb on the radio they did a great sketch about comparison sites the other week...

anyway, just seeing if there's anyone I should speak to other than the people I've come across on confused/compare/money supermarket/direct line/privilege...

I'm at £510 fully comp with business use on a focus st worth £9k, I've got full ncb and 9 points split over 4 years and the missus has 3 points and a low value fault accident 3 years ago.. I'm 32 and she's 35.

is there any benefit to shopping around any further do you think? Would you think I'd come under any specialist categories? I don't consider myself to be high risk and the car isn't especially high performance...

My best price is with 1st central.. anyone know if they're any good?

The only other suggestion I've had is adrian flux.. is it worth giving them a call? I'm losing the will to live tbh.

I'd say that is fairly expensive, but then i can certainly see why.

Plus it's a Focus ST which is always going to cost more to insure. I don't think you'll get much less than that at all.

Thats very expensive. I pay less for my Group 17 car and I'm 10 years younger than your missus.

I honestly didn't consider it "very" expensive...

I've got 9 points, do 20k a year half a which is business and yes groups matter but I bet more of my group 17 car get wrapped around trees than yours :)

I think that's about right given the car (Focus STs are notoriously bad on insurance) and the points/claims you and your missus have had recently. :)

I'm going to be paying £620 for fully comp insurance (£640 TPFT, go figure...) next week for a car worth less than 4 grand (with significantly less power than yours). Im 25, 5 years NCB, no accidents, no points.

Your figure is very good imo. Though my price is partly due to my city centre location.

most insurance companies have some discount they can give if you get cheaper prices, do a quote see what you get and if its cheaper give them a call, people who give different prices they are getting when they younger, sporty car etc is all fair and good but seeing as they dont live in the same postcode as you, do the same occupation as you its not really a fair comparison. every ones price will be different depending on circumstance :)

My prices are similar . Ive been with Quinn Direct for 2 years, not had an accident or any points in that time and gained 2 years no claims with them and they have put my insurance up this year to £479 from £443 TPT&F. The cheapest price Ive found on comparison websites is £560...WTF!? I'm 26 ffs and its a slow Ford Focus 1.6. I dread to think what price i would get for a Civic Type R that i wanted to replace my car with.

i am 25 my girlfriend is 26 i have a 1999 subaru impreza which is modded and insurance is always a nightmare i end up having to have limited mileage which drops it down a lot. I paid £750 last year i now have it for £565. It does help having 8 years ncd. I find ringing up helps and try people like sky insurance, adrian flux

if you don't mind me asking how come your 44 years old and have 0 ncb?

If I had to guess, I'd say he made a claim in the last year ;)

For what it's worth, I'm on £450 @ 20yo, 0NCB, 1.4l 106 TPFT with DirectLine. Licence for 3 years. (All at time of getting).

And it's always worth checking FC prices as they can be cheaper than TPFT, even if you're not planning on it.. when I renew, FC will be cheaper for me.

Well just got a quote for £364.80 via Tesco compare. Ive never heard of Footman James before though. Only thing is I'll lose DOC cover than i had with Quinn, i might ring them and tell them Ive found it for cheaper and ask if they will match it. Last time i tried that they said they couldn't do that though, they're only allowed to sell for what comes up on their screen .
