It's that time again, I can upgrade my phone. I hate this decision, going to be using it for 2 years.

I need your thoughts, what would you recommend?

I want Android, and I want to be able to root it. This rules out Samsung & Huawei.

I'm torn between Pixel 4XL or OnePlus 7T Pro.

I used the OP 7T Pro for a short time and was very impressed. I have never used the Pixel 4.

The OP 8 is due out in a little over a couple of months if you can wait.

hold out a little while i'd say. within the next few months Oneplus, Google and Xiaomi will have some new phones out.

what can your current phone not do that you need?

my vote would be to go sim only for a few months until the options open up.

Vodafone can do the Pixel 4 XL for £45.60 - unlimited calls, text & data, with Spotify for 2 years

£1100 for that (plus the cost of two RPI increases) over 24 months is not a good deal at all. The 4XL has in the past been available for £31 per month with 20Gb (no Spotify), making £745 over the contract.

Handset on the Play store is £829. Spotify is £10p/m so £240 over 2yrs. That is £1069 without a SIM. Vodafone cost is £1095. Makes the calls/texts/data a smidge over £1 per month. Thought that was good haha
