I have a 360 but I want to play God of War - What do I do!?

Bayonetta poos on GoW3 from a great height. Better, deeper combat and more challenging. Technically more impressive.
Unless you are just being a fanboy, would you care to explain in a little more detail?

Bayonetta in my opinion has got a more complex and varied combat mechanic, it is also more 'flashy', for a while at least it keeps you well engaged when you throw out a new special its great. GoW on the other hand is more arcadey where you hit the same button(s) for combo's however the moves are far more grand, but then at the same time for most of the game you are doing a lot more in the first place. I can't really see how the bayonetta combat would work on the back of collosas for example

It's essentially doing jumping mixed attacks on a very narrow focus vs grand attacks where you hit things on a bigger scale while you are doing other things.

Gameplay i couldn't disagree with you more, the difference for me was i played Bayonetta for a couple of hours and lost interest.
Anyone who dropped Cronos or even Zeus and didn't have a huge smile on their face is not alive, in GoW the middle fights were ok but the boss fights are where it shines

Technically GoW is far superior in every way
landscapes are bigger (the scale isn't even close to gow), graphics are better (art style of bayonetta may be new and pretty but graphically it is not really all that amazing), more complex environments, game runs smoother (although in fairness i ran Bayonetta from the disc), more varies set pieces (boss fights), larger diversity of levels.... i could go on but you get the point

The story in both is rubbish really :p, Soundtrack in bayonetta is better though i thought.

In reality you need to play both, while in the same genre they are very different games in both presentation and gameplay. if you had to choose one i would go for GoW every time for sheer fun factor and a more satisfying playthrough

To the op if you still cant decide if its worth the effort, just balance how much you cba against the difference in scores :p
Source: Metacritic
Darksiders 82/100
Bayonetta 87/100
GoW 92/100

If you wanted to be naughty you could rent GoW 3 from lovefilm or something and then buy the ps3 and return it within the week :p

let's not forget the director for bayonetta is the same director for Devil May Cry 1 (still the best imo), and GoW is admittedly copying many DMC elements. So comparing these games are somewhat pointless as they are THE SAME.

It's only that low because they made a shoddy ps3 port job of bayonetta and gow 3 just appeals to a wider market.

Gow is the most boring pointless game series I have ever played, it's basically loved by graphics w's.

There's more depth in bayonettas little toe than the entire 3 games put together.

Sure.

Bayonetta is far more meaty a game. Initially you have access to normal difficulty only. This first play through is a basic tutorial - it gets you familiar with the mechanics and fighting system. After the next play through - now on hard, which mixes the game up with more and tougher enemies appearing earlier and throughout - you should have unclocked all the moves/weapons/items and have a better understanding of the fighting system. You now have everything to hand to start the game proper, some idea of how involved the game will become, and have still only just scratched the surface. In comparison GoW is gaming with training wheels - there's not much to learn and nothing below the surface.

Your experience may have been marred somewhat by playing the PS3 version. Bayonetta running at a steady 60 fps looks superb. The animation and speed alone impressed me more than anything GoW3 delivered. A constant high frame rate is also necessary to play a game this demanding at a decent level - unlike GoW, which is often in the 30's and 40's and can afford to drop frames without affecting things too badly.

The story in both is rubbish really :p, Soundtrack in bayonetta is better though i thought.

Agreed on both points! One of the most useful commands - and one not listed in the instruction booklet - is the ability to skip cutscenes in Bayonetta.

GoW is more like a Final Fight in that you play it through once or twice, mash some buttons, see the sights and job done. Fun had by all. Bayonetta is for people that want something seriously meaty to get their teeth stuck into. It's an absolute beast (and poos on GoW from a great height ;)).
