I have just checked Patch 8 for VSE 8.5 into Epo but dont know why it is deploying? I have checked my tasks and everything is disabled?

I then created a test group which doesn't have inheritance and created a new task to deploy the update but then realized it has been deploying since I checked in the package?

I'm at a loss. Please help.

Regards

i think patches are deployed as part of the dat update task, rather than a separately created deployment task. are you positive you have either the dat deployment task disabled (what would be the point of having epo then?!) or that within your dat update task you have it configured to deploy only the dat/engine rather than 'everything' which obviously includes patches/hotfixes. (i manage epo within our environment which looks after about 4000 devices...don't really like it to be honest!)

Thanks for your help.

The updates appears to have deployed because Global Updating was enabled for that version of Virusscan.

Edit: Looking after about 2000

looking to upgrade later in the year, as i think patch 1 has been released now. going to virus scan v8.7, trialling the latest version of host intrusion prevention, and we are looking to integrate the hard drive crypto stuff in with it too.

I moved to EPO4.5 a few months back and it is a huge improvement over 4. Also upgraded last week from 8.5 to 8.7 with no problems at all!

I cannot remember what mcafee said but either groupshield or epo are due out in the new few weeks/ month. It might be working giving them a call if you wish to be on the 'latest' version all the time to save the agro.

Do you put your epo on a public facing ip? as mine is on its own VLAN and proxy access is a must to update repos on the server. New epo uses the horrible new mcafee update engine that requires constant direct connection to the net
