Okay.. here goes..

I call Direct Line to arrange to get a curtousy car on my Policy.. forgot that i'm actually covered for this sort of thing, normally I just pay the Dealers £15 and you're away, and the bloke sorta said afaik we do this "Free of Charge" at the start..

After a bit of conversation, (I had also rang to see if there was any info on my renewal) we went on to the curtousy car.. basically the car is going in for a few checks and some warrenty work, so they need to keep it for 24 hours and the closest time they had was the 1st, and 9/10 they either give Mini owners a 116 i/d or a Mini Cooper.. in my case they're giving me a 116I for the day..

So I go to direct line and give them the Reg of the car.. and the guy says, Mr West, bare with me one second I just need to pop you on hold.. and he comes back and says to me.. right because of your age, and the fact they're giving you a BMW for the day.. we need to charge you £7.35.. i've spoken to my boss and he actually laughed at the fact they're giving you a 57 Plate BMW for the day.. so we need to apply this charge..

Now considering I am F/C with my policy you would honestly think that there is no need for this sort of thing? i've paid them the best part of £1,600 for the pleasure of my policy, and they've gotta have another £8 off me when I get a ****** 1 series for the day?

Stupid :(

His boss 'laughed at the fact they are giving you a BMW for the day'?

It's a 116i not an M3. Are you making this up?

Anyway of course it's going to cost, the 1 Series is of higher value and is in a higher group than your Mini One.

No im deadly serious, the guy come back to me and said that his boss Laughed at the fact..

Ask him who his boss is, then ask to speak to him, then ask him if he thinks its alright to laugh at paying customers, then run down to the call center and hit him over the head with your mouse.

£8 aint all that bad :)

dude.. its £8.. it would cost you more to use something like day insure.

Yeh i'm not disputing that, but it seems bizzare when i'm on a F/C Policy that is supposed to insure me for curtousy cars free of charge (My mums policy is the same, she drives a Cooper, and they didnt charge her a penny)

My response would have been...

"Ok"

Discussed how i would have been charged (added to next months fee's or debited) said thanks, and put the phone down.

Basically I think what i'm trying to say is.. being 19/M Blows.

I bet it was nothing to do with that. When mine went in for a service I arranged insurance and my insurer wanted £20 for one day. I ended up using Dayinsure.

I dropped off a 230bhp 530i and they gave me a 90bhp Mini One...

:o Okay, you win..

:p

I get the pleasure of a Renault Modus whilst my Clio is at the dealer next week, in a weird way I'm looking forward to seeing how dreadful it is to drive, in another way I think I'm going to quit driving for a few days.

Had a modus for a day, its not actually that bad (for a tin can), felt like it was going to tip over though, it used hardly any fuel at all!

Count yourself lucky they don't want a £10 handling fee like most insurers.

Renault kept doing the well thats a £10 charge for the loan car sir.

Told them to stick it in the end i was so fedup with the service (lookers in Macclesfield) i then sold the car and went on an anti french car mission.
