i went for a eye test a few days ago and found out i was short sighted so i have to wear glasses, i got them yesterday but it feels so weird and unnatural when i have them on, i can see a lot better with them but it feels so strange

i just wanted to know how long it has taken others to get used to wearing them?

Ha, you should try hard contact lenses - now they that a long time to get used to. :(

A week, if you need them for an 8 hour work day. I got mine in August - used to get really bad staring-at-a-screen-all-day headaches.

Nobody told me glasses were so bloody expensive. >/ Dislike.

It didn't take me long, but personally I hated wearing glasses, I really really did. They were very impractical for me. They're just a pain in the buttocks.

Having said that for the first few weeks I actually forgot to wear them to school when I had them, when you get a snazzy pair you become very worried that you will break them aswell.

Get contacts, best thing ever.

I got used to mine within a matter of about 2 days. everyone is different though.

It depends what kind of frames you get though, the heavy 'fashionable' frame types that all you hip-cats wear must take a while to get used to. my first two pairs pair were moderately heavy and it still didn't take long - as I said, a couple of days.

I wear rimless frames now and they're extremely light, much prefer them to any other type now.

just wait til it feels weird not wearing them!

I initially used them just for driving, cinema, TV etc when i could really see the benefit as i initially didn't like wearing them.

That continued for quite a while before i started wearing them pretty much all the time, then it didn't take long (maybe 1-2 weeks) before getting used to them. :)

worst thing is when you're cooking pasta etc, when you go to drain it in the sink etc, you get a blast of steam right in your face and go blind for a while, or coming in from a cold day into a warm house, steameh :p

lol thanks for the replies :) good to know most people were used to them after a couple of weeks, i drink a lot of coffee and i keep steaming them up by accident :p

oh, and I can't count the number of times I've gotten into the shower wearing them and thought I was passing out as they steam up/I start seeing dots :D

For me, never. Got contact lenses as soon as I could afford them.

Then got lasered. :D

Then got lasered. :D

If I had been a just a few years younger when lasering became more main stream then I would have gone that route. However I started to get presbyopia (close reading problems) rather early, so now lasering would fix one problem only to make the other worse :(

I didnt mind wearing glasses. Got some Dolce & Gabana ones for £100 when I got my first pair.

After 15 years of wearing glasses I no longer have to wear them! :D I'm struggling to get used to NOT wearing them!

They soon become part of your life and second nature - you just don't notice them anymore after a while.
