For almost 5 years I've had this chair,

(hmm, needs a good clean me thinks)

It's been good for the first year and then there after, the foam had my posture print and I've been basically sitting on more or less, the wooden base supporting the "cushion". I'm still comfortable on it.

Recent months, the nuts and bolts are falling apart and I'm thinking it's time for a new chair. I got this chair for £40 from Argos, delivered free (along with my bed and chest drawers 5 years ago)

Did a google on posture / kneeling chair (I really do prefer them but also looking for something more durable / comfortable for longer hours sitting)

£50 collected from local store for practically the same chair + gas lift instead of the turning knob

£260 delivered!
I swore at my laptop when I saw that price.

Really really out of my budget range but it's the best version I've seen, I lean forward and back when I'm doing my work, so that chair will keep my posture up continuously as I move as compared to my old chair, fixed.

My budget is £50 and the furthest I can stretch is £90 delivered for a similar chair, anyone know where else I can see these chairs for more "student friendly" pricing?

Otherwise, what other chair have you got that's well priced and comfortable for long hours sitting - many chairs are comfortable when you sit back but none provide comfort when leaning forward to the desk when working as far as I've tried.

Greatly appreciate any input and help :)

don't you miss being able to lean back? :/

Not really, it's really comfortable as a work station desk chair, I have a big purple/pink futon next to my desk when I can sit on / lean back / chill out / play guitar on. So I do have a place to "lean back" after hours of work.

I'd recommend this type of chair for any work station
Plus, since it's kneeling, you're legs are tucked behind and it doesn't get in the way of what junk I have stored under the table i.e. kicking them, moving them or be distracted :)

just out of interest, how the hell do you sit in those

*edit* never mind i went out and learnt how to read

Where I work we sell them, but we are a competitor I think? If I can mention them in this context then I will...

I don't know how they can be more comfortable than an executive leather chair. Out of interest have you ever had a decent normal chair?

Once you are used to it the posture is fantastic! It looks like your knees take a lot of the weight but its not like that. Try one for yourself and see! :)

I've been after a kneeler for a while, but the cost..

I had one at my old job and work paid for it, was so much nicer then an office chair.

I use to have an executive (fabric) chair, those than can go up, down, left, right and even recline... it was fine but no matter how you sit, you'll slouch forward as you concentrate on work in front - adjust the chair height up and down, bringing in closer (to the point of chest to desk edge)

Until I tried a kneeler, initially I thought it was a gimmick chair and I was so used to it for workstation, I wouldn't really go back to "normal chairs" unless it's something really boombastic:p

@platypus

£50 from Argos isn't that bad, except I'm looking for one that's similar than that "rocker"/versatile version, that £200+ one...

I'm having the same problem with the seat on mine anyway, I'll probably recover it with a better cushion sometime.

Recover it... how? It's stapled down under the fabric... If I can do it, I would actually, been checking out the bay and that Argo's version is going out at around £30 delivered by Parceline 48, I'm tempted....
