I need a new mobile phone

would you? i dont think i would notice anything TW laucher is actually very smooth and fast yes its not as good looking as sense :o but in my eyes one s has nothing over s2 they are pretty much equal in performance.. bar the one year release difference ;) quite some time for htc/other android phones to catch up with samsung :o

I have a S2 and I think the one S is a bit faster, those A15 are pretty sweet. In some benchmarks it was a lot faster but in real life it meant only a small difference, I also found both the S2 and one S to be a bit faster then the one X.

one year man thats a long time for others to catch up! its still one of the best phones around and i bet they sell like hot cakes.. well done to htc for finally catching up with s2 :) s3 wont be that hard to beat

What do you typically use your phone for? What stuff is important? Be as detailed as you can.

I call and text a fair bit. I don't really game on it much or use many apps. A decent sized screen would be nice as I intend to use it as a sat nav. I hardly ever use mobile internet because the screen on my Defy is so small. Plus lagging phones really **** me off!

I would say a nicely sized screen (say minimum 4 inches) and a non-laggy experience are the most important.

They both feel slightly quicker than the One X because HTC have done a rubbish job with Sense on it.

For example, if you have 5 Sense home screens full of widgets it will have a bit of judder sometimes when you move between them. As soon as you do the exact same thing with Apex, it's perfectly smooth and fast - as it should be.

Once HTC sort that out (I can't be bothered rooting and so on just to sort that at the moment) the differences will be next to nothing. Ultimately it's not something that would bother 99% of people, but it's something that bugs me sometimes. It's really just the animations though, the speed is excellent and it's lightning fast when you look past any slight judders.

Samsung are far better at software optimisation though, the GS2 and likely GS3 have proven that.

Well, a 4.3" screen would probably be fine for a sat nav. What you should do is go and try the S2 against the One X and see how you think they compare in a shop. You may love the bigger and better screen and think it's amazing and totally worth it, or you might not.

That makes sense, thought it would down to some software issues. Personally I would root to get all my apps and data back but these days apart from putting on Cm9 I dont see any reason to get a custom rom.

When you normally use it as a sat nav how long will it be, if it is for long drives then I would vote for the S2 as you can carry a spare battery or one of those bigger ones. For everything else I would personally go with the one S, it will be a nice upgrade in terms of screen (Although I think it has the worst of the 3), preformance as it is the fastest, personally to me looks the best and feels really nice.

Also it really is worth just popping into a shop and trying all 3 out, reading reviews and ask poeple can only go so far and actual just using it would be best, you can see how they feel and which skin is best for you.

Another thing, resolution wise and crispness obviously the S3 and X will be on top, but I would give colours/blacks the nod to the One S.

Over the S3?

The blacks are fair enough, but the colours are personal preference. I showed a lot of people the AMOLED screen on the Nexus and S2 and a lot of them didn't like the unrealistic nature of the images, especially photos. Some of them are pretty fussy though! :p

This could have been balanced further on the S3 screen, but I'll need to see it to judge.
