Ok it's getting cold now and I'm getting cold when I go out... but none of the shops seem to have any decent winter coats! The range seems to be almost exclusively thin polyester mix 3/4 length coats for £120, what's all that about? Where have all the good coats gone?

I'm quite slim but wide shouldered and most of them look too big in the body. Not necessarily looking for a smart coat, just one that's toasty warm. Where can I look? Highstreet preferable, but tried most of the big names except Blacks so far. Price not too important if the right one comes up and is warm enough. Would prefer not to look like a rambler too ;)

So you're looking for a full length trench coat type thing?
Well I was thinking a bit like those long thick quilted coats you see them wearing at the arctic ideally, I saw some shops selling something like that in Prague but where the hell would you get them over here? Obviously I don't need one quite so extreme, nor do I need the boots or crampons :D

Hey, I said crampons, not tampons ;)

The only thing that would worry me is that maybe it was too warm :D, down is warm enough by itself without sticking another sheet over the top of it. You may find that you sweat like a ***** due to more or less zero breathability in the jacket.
It's something I considered. Trouble is what I use it for. Early morning long commutes then late night return, so a very cold walk then the long train journey involves stripping everything off :D

I raise your Fonzie with... me :D

Bump from hell :p

Well I never did get the McMurdo parker. I tried EVERYWHERE but they had all sold out of smalls and it looks like it's going to be the same this year :(

Who else does big down filled parkas?
