I have started playing GTA V again (done this several times and not gotten far but loved rdr2 so will give it a crack)

There's so much excess grunt with the 3080 I set Nvidia DSR to x4 so was running at 6880*2880 and set MSAA to x8 and exceeded 10Gb VRAM hehe.

This is a pseudo-troll post, obviously these setting are insane and I have adjusted things to in-game scale factor 1.25 and MSAA x4 everything ultra, for around 80fps:)

Reminds me of when I tried MSFS in VR at 200 render scale. I'm pretty sure I saw 16-17 GB VRAM usage.

Frame rate wasn't close to playable to playable of course so doesn't mean much!

That said when I did Elite dangerous in VR I could still see 10-11 GB VRAM usage with a perfectly locked 90 FPS, so there are certainly times where 10GB would be cutting it tight.

If I've worked it out right It's just 158,515,200 pixels.

6880*2880*8?

Or maybe my understanding of MSAA is wrong and therefore is 19.5M pixels or 4k X 2 basically.

The game overall looks far better than I remember and still excellent. Immersive as heck as a living city.

I'm unsure if RS* updates graphics through patches over the years, it's literally been years since I last touched the game.

There's a limit due to the pixel pitch of my monitor where you get aliasing/stepping no matter what settings you try.

A bit of supersampling like all games though tidies it up very nicely .

Should have got a 3090, how else will you run Skyrim at 8k with 200 mods

You joke, but I got a 3090 partly to get a decent framerate in modded skyrim in VR on my Index, and using the Ultimate VR Essentials modlist (hundreds of mods) the game is using 9.7gb of VRAM. :eek:

Luckily I have another 14.3gb spare. :D
