I really should just buy the right car in the first place, e92 M3 gone, replaced with....

Florida is 70mph, and most speed limits are the same as here urban/extra urban etc.

That's only on the Interstates and even then it's few and far between with most junctions asking drivers to drop to 65 or 55. Most (if not all) trunk roads are 55. Though, to be fair, all of these are 3 lane carriageways :o

The one thing I really love about driving in the Florida (US in general) is the Maximum 70 Minimum 55 signs. We should get some of them over here

another fantastic car Dave, nicely done.

I remember your jammie deal with the S2000, do car garages just have hillarious paperwork errors whenever your nearby? :p

I was having the same conversation with my wife and parents about this. I'm half expecting to hear my salesman is now dead through ritual suicide on a sword.

I'm very impressed with it so far and I got such an incredible deal I could sell it today for $5k more than I bought it for. Unfortunately my friend has a Switzer P1000 here so it feels rather slow compared to that, mods incoming I guess!

You should get the Switzer package. Just seen some vids and it makes the GTR ridiculously fast !

"feels rather slow" Is not something I ever thought I would hear about a GTR

Well it does go from 3.5~ sec to 2.88~ with the Switzer P800 alone so...:p

And that's just the 800BHP tune-up!

Now imagine Switzer's tune on the 2012 GT-R, what 0-60 would that be, 2.9 to...??? Crazy :p

Thats not the impressive part.

As going from 500BHP upto 800BHP or even 1000BHP only drops the 0-60 by approx 0.5s as there is not enough traction.

The impressive part is how quick it goes from 60mph-160mph, were talking about 6s. 60-100mph only takes 2s, now that is mighty impressive.

Road cars struggle greatly to achieve sub 3s, but massive acceleration improvements come once moving beyond 60mph. :)

Haha genius.

You've certainly done well mate. The GTR looks awesome and I hope you enjoy it.

So let's get this straight. Are you saying that the dealer's list price was already 'very good' based on the car he said he was selling or the car he was actually selling? If you're saying it was good based on what he said he was selling, then it wasn't actually that good was it, as the car was not as described. If you considered it that good based on what he was actually selling, then why on earth did he knock it down by $7k just because of the misdescription? Or was the $7k in reality just haggling margin?

And you could supposedly sell it now and instantly make $5k profit, which means you as a private seller (I assume) could sell something for $5k more than the car dealer could, just because he misdescribed something? Car dealers don't suddenly give fantastic deals just because they made a mistake in the description. The degree to which this deal was 'amazing' isn't another 'I was accepted onto the RAF team that doesn't exist' fantasy, is it? :o Hopefully you can provide more details on the exact nature of the errors as it sounds like total BS to me.

Why don't you just tell us what you actually paid for it, then we can judge the extent to which you achieved yet another deal of the century due to a dealership error.

I thought it was pretty obvious from Iceman's Op. Dealer sold it at a price that a GTR with a lower spec level commands without realising so Iceman jumped on that deal?

There's no need to post actual paid price at all.

He was happy at the price, why does he need to prove anything to you?

He felt like he stole it, dealer was no doubt happy with what he got, otherwise he wouldn't have let it go.

If it wasn't the deal of the century to YOU, what does the OP care?

To be honest it the guy thinks he got a bargain can't we just leave it at that.

I'm sure there will be some naysayer telling the OP how he was ripped off and that the dealer fleeced him etc ;)

If it wasn't the deal of the century to YOU, what does the OP care?

Ooh look at that, great minds and all that ;)

HEADRAT

Harsh there from Robbie G.

I didnt think the OP was a fantasist, just someone who enjoys telling everyone how he's spent his old mans cash.

I used to spend my old mans cash, sometimes he would give me a fiver for fish and chips on a friday.

That's not how I read it, he says 'The dealer made a serious error describing the car for me which allowed me to get the car for $7k under the already very good asking price'...how does that translate into the dealer was selling an overspecced car at a good price?

I don't care if he cares or not, inevitably he does not. I'd still like to know the details.

You can if you like.

I'm not saying he's fantasising about buying a GTR, I'm wondering if he's over egging the awesomeness of the deal he says he got.

You've all got double standards, just because it's a GTR. If it was a Corsa you'd be falling over yourselves trying to get the purchase price from him.

From what I know of Dave he buys his own cars. :)

If his old man was buying for him, he'd not be buying a GTR, probably something along the lines of a fleet of 458's.

I am all for the inquisition and I too would like to know (only because I am very nosey), but I guess there are a number of factors, including

  1. Iceman is a good poster and honorary member of Elite crew iirc (I do not have the spreadsheet to hand)
  2. Iceman posts at a decent level and people trust his judgement of things
  3. It is an American based purchase of which people have no experience of the market over there
  4. Its a GTR not a Corsa, and people don't have much experience in that level of the performance market
  5. The GTR owns and is a bargain at twice the price
