I saw Tool in Manchester (MEN) on Friday...

I saw them in Nottingham last night and personally I thought it was a spectacular gig. Tool were so tight, the sound quality was excellent, the laser show was great and there was a good atmosphere - it felt like one of the most 'complete' gigs I've ever been to. I thought it was a much better show than at Download.

Saw them at Cardiff on Thursday & even though the sound was great & they played really tight, I just didn't enjoy it that much.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a Tool fan for around 14 years, seen them live 6 times & even met them on my honeymoon (they were staying in the same hotel as us in Phoenix, AZ) - but it's all just getting a bit boring to me now.

There's very little excitement with Tool these days for me, no real drive to them as there was in the early days. I have to hold my hands up as well, and say that (for me) 10,000 Days was their poorest album to date.

Sorry if that's offended any fans (I still consider myself one), but it's just my opinion.

I kind of agree with what you are saying, all except the new album part, I love 10k days. It's an album they were due to make. When you consider the jump from Undertow to Aenima, 10k is kind of in line with how they go about things. This second tour of 10k i felt exactly like you posted above. I believe they will be a better band in future because of it... I think the next record they make will be another Aenima and completely inaccessable, (at least to begin with) for the majority of the fan base, i could be way off the mark here but just now it's what i feel will happen.

And for all my ranting about how much i didnt enjoy the second tours of 10k i will always be a fan of this band, if i turn out to be wrong about the next record the past history is good enough for me. The Aenima tour in London in 1997, the 15 minute earthquake before they opened with third eye is something that i will never forget and reason enough for me to love this band no matter what they do.

Good honest post DeSade. :)
