I suspect I have bedbugs

OP, your plan needs more of this:

And less of this:

I dragged some of these little critters home from a seedy little hole of a B&B in Scotland (up there on a scuba holiday)
Anyway, long story short £700 quids worth of Divan bed and matress got chopped up, taken outside and set fire to.
All furniture was fumigated (liquid spray) room was smoke bombed and skirting boards sprayed.
I moved into the then living room for a week until the new bed arrived.
Scouted room for a further week before moving hesitantly back in.. Armed with more bug killer spray.

a lot of places you pick these up are hotels, as they just hop in and out of peoples suitcases.

The problem is they don't just live on your bed, they live every where upto 10-15m from it and they hide in the furniture, bedding and carpet.

Go to bed, wake up and get in a full bath of water and submerse your self fully and when you come up they should all be floating

You're going to spend 2 days washing your bedding and fumigating your room naked?

Can we have BedbugCam?

No. If you really need a reason why, see K1LLSW1TCH's post.

Which is why I'm gonna keep treating with Raid for a week afterward. After that time, I've got a good chance of killing off all the new hatchlings on their first feed, before they get a chance to lay new eggs. If this plan fails, and assuming I'm still alive enough to care, It'll be a full bedding replacement, and professional fumigation as a last resort.

The scene from Malcolm in the middle comes to mind here, Where hal has the raid and is spraying the cockroaches under the sink, but doesnt take into account that he's in an enclosed space so passes out.

Advice! Dont spray the raid with your head under the duvet, Unless you want and really really really good nights sleep

Don't use raid, go to a local veterinary surgery, they'll have a proper fumigating spray, I forget it's name now but it's around £20-£30, you'll have to spray every inch of your carpet, and mattress, don't go ott though, just follow the guidelines.

Horrific creatures. I'd rather have a plague of mice than bed bugs.

Also, they are attracted to human breath. Something to do with the CO2. Once they smell the breath of human, they'll be there like a shot to suck your blood!

Or as a temporary test to find out whether it is bedbugs, try getting one of those plastic hygiene sheets and put it around your mattress, followed by a fresh bed spread.

I know its a bit annoying, but it'll help give you piece of mind. I know I couldn't sleep thinking something was eating me alive at night.

I feel so dirty, I was looking forward to my bed when I get in from work too!

How can you prevent these little things?
