i think my pc died - help!

ok guys, i have just come in from the gf's to find the fans on 100% - i never run them on 100% signalling its crashed or rebooted.

completely unresponsive so i reset it and it started to boot into windows so i could see what was happening. it got past the vista loader bar, then blue screened.

rebooted itself, then got to the same page and blue screened with a page something something in a non-paged area.

then, i turned it off, and back on, and now it wont post through the bios!

the graphics card fan instantly goes to 100% speed, so i thought it was that. so i swapped my dads 1900xt in there, and same thing - fans all spin up fast, then doesnt post. hard drive ticks over, and the cd rom reads whats in the drive, but no bios beep.

reset cmos, same thing.

removed ram, it beeps telling me to give it ram, but when i do, it does nothing.

im seriously stuck and wondering what the hell to do next!

ok well i cant test anything else, i dont have any spare ddr2 ram, and no spare core2's or p4's lying around so im pretty much stuck......

thanks for the reply and lol at the second guy - it doesnt post, how am i supposed to change the voltages.

i have found it out to be 1 of the ocz modules i use - strange but true. rmaing now :( damn

tried resetting the CMOS? Just a jumper to move about, mobo manual will show you which one (usually near the battery)

can no one read?

all the questions asked have been answered in my first post, or dont apply because it couldnt post!

and i have found the problem now, its the ram!..........

Tried re-seating the CPU? Tried booting with just the basics? (CPU / Mem / VGA)

Tried clearing hte CMOS the long way round? (remove CMOS battery for a couple of mins, unplug the power supply, and empty the power supply of discharge or disconnecting it from the motherboard).

It was a classic sign of dead memory. Thankfully it's usually the easiest thing to test for.

Glad to hear you found the problem. To anyone else experiencing problems reading this thread I generally like to try resetting the CMOS by removing the battery for a couple of mins and then removing as many components as possible (rather than just swapping each in and out) to find the problem.

I've found this to be the quickest way to find errors.
