You'll notice both guitars have a small hairband around the top near the nut aswell, this means that as you tap a string the only sound you hear is the note you've tapped, not any open string noise (which is what you can get from releasing a fretted note/accidentally brushing other strings), this makes this technique incredibly easier to pull off. Technique still has a huge part to play though, it's quite easy once you get the hang of it to to sound any note with the strength of your fretting hand alone, you just need to precisely know whereabouts on the string to fret and how much power/what angle to use. Sounds much more complicated than it actually is :p

This type of guitar playing style is much more akin to playing a piano, as hand independance is much more important than usual guitar playing styles.

Wow, seriously impressive... he plays better with 2 guitars than I do with just the 1 :D

ps - I like his version of Canon too.
