I think it's fairly clear cut guys - OcUK sells games. Any mention of places that sell games is a competitor. Is that difficult?

So I guess that means that any mention of "Steam" or "D2D" in relation to purchasing games on the PC forum is prohibited

Indeed :)

OK fair enough but just so I am 100% clear.

Talking about say buying a game from Tescos isn't allowed.

However talking about buying cheap beer (anything other than tech basically) from Tescos is OK correct?

i predict

a) suspensions

b) Lots of - i got great beer from Asda *wink wink* ;)

Bizarre rule - just bizarre considering if you look at the range and breadth of games Ocuk sells. But meh not bothered. Hope its enforced 100%

Correct.

The mention of Steam could be an issue, but as long as members aren't posting along the lines of "omg buy from Steam it's on the cheapz" then that's fine.

Awesome. As soon as I know the stance on the Steam issue I'm all good with this. Just as long as it's enforced as if not and someone gets suspended but a mod misses a post by someone else... well the persons going to be up in arms.

The trouble is it hasn't been clear cut, even for somoene like myself that reads most days the rules have changed about far too often.

The last sticky mentioned mentioned that you couldn't talk about shops like the highstreet game selling stores or the shop that sells games with next day delivery because their core business conflicted with OCuks, fine and dandy.

Now your saying any mention of places selling games. So previous places we were told were fine like tesco, amazon and play (because there primary business was not seen as direct comp) are these now allowed or not?

Can you see the confusion? If your a poster that comes in once every few weeks, months or so they can't leep up. As I say I post here everyday and I can't.

The other issue is turnaround time on RTMs, people haven't known its a problem because by the time they have been actioned and deleted the thread has moved on and no one refers back that far.

And another thing while I'm on a roll, can you get rid of half the stickies at the top. We have too many and they aren't used anymore anyway. The console FAQ and official threads and failures are pointless, people just post a thread of ask a question anyway and they take up too much of the front page :D

do OCUK really compete with high-street games shops or international supermarkets though ?

dont even come close to competing with the prices i see

also the forum looks a mess with so many stickies . thought it was always 3 and no more ?

It has nothing to do with price comparisons, it's just unfair on OcUK.

These places are competitors though, I just posted in another thread -

We're not telling people they can't buy elsewhere

People can shop where they like, however it's not fair on Spie if potential business wasn't given due to someone seeing a competitor.

This sticky will only be here for a few weeks. And yes, I'm aware that a tidy up is in order!

Eugh rule change again.

It's not a rule change at all, merely a reminder - competitor links/mentions has always been a part of the FAQ.
