I tried to repair my PS2, but....

....I ran into problems. I disassemble the thing no problem and open the DVD drive to expose the underneath but to my horror i found that im missing the little white turning gear to adjust the angle of the lense.

Could it be that my modem PS2 adjusts the angle some other way or is the gear simply gone (i bought the PS2 2nd hand)?

Its a big chunky one. I dont get the disc read error message but games will load to the main menu and just freeze. Happens with every game. The Tweak3D guide was the one i used aswell so im definately missing the white cog, im not being blind or anything :)
 
I'm not surprised you're having problems if the gear isn't there...

Where did you buy it? GAME do a 90 day guarantee on all preowned stuff including hardware, so if I were you I'd go and swap it for another console ;)

hmm it should come with the cog, as it happens i think i still have a cream crackered ps2 lying around somewhere, drop me an email and i'll see if i can find it for ya.. itsin the loft somewhere :)

Sorted, found the ps2 and it works so you can have the whole thing...for free :)

I could really do with a working PS2 atm... my current one has failed on me...
