I want a high pace fps game...

Maybe have a look at that Hell in Vietnam Demo thats just been released? theres a bit of peaking around corners etc. but it does seem pretty fast and intense.

If its for Multiplayer and your not bothered about graphics and you just want the fastest fps possible, nothing (even to this day) beats Doom1+2 for pure speed and adrenaline rush, you can play it online using Zdaemon.org

Then second would have to be quakeworld if you want something thats true 3d - you can actually make it look pretty nice with some of the quakeworld clients nowadays.

Sounds like either Quake 4 or CSS - although sometimes you got to stop and be tactical in CSS... Whereas in Quake 4 it's "GO nuts and try and keep alive" :p

For multiplayer, Quakeworld is pretty untouchable. The physics are way more outlandish than modern FPS, you can bunnyhop around at insane speeds, bounce people in the air and glue them to the ceiling with shaft (thanks to instant weapon switch). There's none of this waiting around for the round to end lark, just full on action. A typical number of frags in a 20min 4v4 team game would be around 300-400.

A word of warning though, the learning curve is almost vertical and even after playing it for a year or two you will likely still be regarded as a newbie, getting completely annihilated most of the time. The game gives players so much freedom that skill differences are exaggerated, and it's so brutal that most new players find trying to compete futile and give it up quickly.

On the singleplayer front, Serious Sam Gold, Serious Sam 2, and Painkiller are worth looking at.

I'd have to say call of duty 2. loads of shooting :D
I haven't played 2, but I have completed 3, and if you run around shooting you end up dead, fast :p

Personally, I'm going to add another vote for Max Payne. It's about as gung-ho as you can get, outside of Quake.

Off the top of my head some FPS games I've played that were notably intense (singleplayer mainly):

Call Of Duty
Call Of Duty: United Offensive
Call Of Duty 2
Serious Sam: The Second Encounter
Painkiller
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
F.E.A.R.
Soldier Of Fortune
Soldier Of Fortune 2: Double Helix
Unreal 2
Half-Life 2
Farcry
Halo
Quake 4
Aliens Vs Predator

The original Soldier Of Fortune is must, yeah sure its dated now but the level of fun you got from blowing off someones limbs is still unmatched to this day. :D

Serious Sam 1 & 2 are your way forward, TBH.

You literally have hundreds of enemies in front of you, waiting to be wiped out by yourself. Mmmmm, kill them all....aaah that's better, let's have a quiet stroll across this level and see what else...*walk for 10 seconds*....RUMBLE....OH ****!:eek:
