I want to be (mentally) strong enough not to

won't be playing cata i don't think. It takes up too much time to play it at a "competetive" level. I may pick it up just to play with a couple of friends every now and then.

Having too much fun with Starcraft at the moment anyway :)

I wouldnt worry, this is just a money making exercise. It'll pull lots of people back for a 6 months but they wont stay. Its just going to be the same old wow.
Much like those people who try to rekindle their love for the game and create 'new starter guilds' where every one has to start a new charactor, they all fade out ofter a month or two.

You are best of keeping you happy memories of the game and moving on.

First time i've ever played it after slagging it off for a year or so, i like my Level 16 Gnome, Warrior.

i have been resisting the pull of WOW for years now as i fear what little life i have will end if i start playing. Will power ***

tbh will power has nothing to do with it anymore, i tried downloading it last week but i gave up due to my **** dl speed

*** could someone please tell me why F T W was blocked

F T W originally was **** the world. I asked that a while ago to

*****Please fully star out all swear words*****

I dont get why some people think they are mentally strong by resisting the game... Uninstalling the game and not subbing is not a hard thing to do...

Playing the game in moderation and not letting it overtake your life makes you mentally stronger (in my opinion)

I can't understand how people can't play a game in moderation and yet let it take over their lives, i can only play an MMO for about 5 levels and i logout, possibly 10 if it's a quick level up.

I had about 18 months odd of not playing but I'm back now, now I just make sure I keep it in proportion, I'd rather see my girlfriend or something like that if I can. Might still nerd out levelling in Cataclysm though.

play cataclysm :(
I am just unsure what will I do until guildwars2 :(
anyone else on the same boat of not wanting to go through another wow expansion? (and this is not a whine thread!!)

I burnt out a long time back and have real problems getting back into the game for any longer than a few weeks. I started playing again a few weeks back, with luck my interest will last till Cataclysm hits and long enought to hit 85.

Sell your computer or your graphics card. Then you won't be able to play hence no temptation.

Edit: Let me put this in perspective sorry, look mate, I haven't played WoW since March 2008, and a quick read through the latest patch notes shows me that Blizzard has finally listened to everything people have been saying for the last 2-3 years and they finally done it, you're not going to be able to resist the temptation, specially if you play a Hunter, Paladin, Warlock or Druid. Trust me, the only way is to sell your computer or your graphics card and then when GW 2 comes out get a new one, you'll get some good cash now too to spend on hookers while your friends are wasting their life playing a virtual world game.

Just do it, the temptation is too strong and as Illidan would say, YOU ARE NOT PREPARED.

I got out of WOW by persuading myself (rightly or wrongly) it wasn't rewarding skill or ability, it just awarded time spent.

That's the point of an MMO, if you dedicate time to playing an MMO, you will accomplish gear and gain knowledge about your profession, MMO's require time spent to a successful character.

Fair enough, I guess what I meant to say is

'I didn't feel satisfied when after 4 hours I got the 'sword of extreme whopping', then realised my 5 year old semi-retarded nephew got exactly the same sword it just took him 30 minutes longer. THEN realised in actual fact ANYONE that wanted it could get it, regardless of ability .. :/

MMOs don't NEED to be like this, it's just how they currently are ... If there was a huge map for TF2, and it had 2 teams of 700 people going round killing each other, THAT would be an MMO, yet would reward skill!!

Probably because those some people, like me, are paraphrasing the OP rather than because they believe they are mentally strong.

Not sure on date for GW2
No monthly fee at all for GW2, free to play just like the original

Guild wars isn't pay monthly because it would lose a large amount of it's player base.

Thanks for the info will be looking forward to it but being as its free and not having to pay for it AT ALL im not all TO excited as i was before i read this reply =D

you pay for the game initially, like call of duty 4, then you play till your hearts consent, no subscription fees, just the payment to purchase the actual game :)

and i think its rumoured to be released early 2011, unless they have released a date for them ill check :)

anymore questions, here! [ http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/#one ]
