I know nothing about soundproofing techniques and i really want to soundproof my bedroom. Basically, i have just moved to a smaller house which means my music can't be played as loud as i used to be able to, plus it is an upside down house (bedrooms on the lower floor) and it's just becoming, annoying. :o

After a quick google, i found this company:

http://www.noisestopsystems.co.uk

They seem to offer pretty much everything but i want some advice first. Has anyone had their house/room soundproofed before?

My room is 9ft by 13ft and i only want to soundproof the ceiling and walls. Unsure about the height of my walls, need to measure those later on.

Get some headphones, much cheaper.

I doub't that by sticking some stuff on your walls and ceiling will make that much difference.

I would have thought the door would be the very first thing you look at as, no doubt, sound is escapting through it. I suggest shutting the door - I find it helps.

.......Um, it doesn't seem to help.

And no, i'm not a lion. ;)

AcidHell2: I read the thread, very interesting to read. :)

As for the bass comment, i don't use too much bass anyways and i haven't set up my HiFi yet but i had my portable CD player on half volume and apparently that was too loud. :o Plus it's general noise from upstairs, even people walking around just...argh! :(

are the upstairs floors carpeted or laminate/bare floor boards? If not carpet then get the capret down asap will make a massive difference.

fill you room with millions of styrofoam balls - it'll deaden the noise and the women'll love it - it'll be like standing inside a bean bag!
