I went out again today. got caught out yet again and got drenched. :( But im pleased I did go out as ive got some decent shots that im processing now. At least I didn't end up hiding under a tree, talking to myself in a tunder storm like I did yesterday. I think this photography malarky is making me go a bit funny in the head.

messiah u got a cover or something for your cam mate??

Yeah, its called me :p Nope, I was just hiding it under my coat (Or jumper today) and taking it out only to use it. Wouldn't mind some sort of raincover for it though, especially for doing landscapes and long exposures etc.

mini umbrella + battery grip + duct tape = rain-proof camera.

I take it from this thread that most camera's will withstand a little bit of water? or is it a big no no?

Most cameras are a bit weather proof. The more pro ones have better weather sealing though.

Unless it is a sealed slr and lenses you are taking a big risk in the rain. I have heard of people dropping the Oly E1 with sealed lenses in the sea and just rinsing them under a tap but normal cameras can easily get water in the electronics or inside the lens.

I took my 6500 out in heavy rain when I first got it by using a large golf umbrella with the handle in the chest pocket of my coat. I could hold the umbrella upright against my shoulder and have both hands free to use the camera. It worked really well and gives oppurtunity to shoot in the rain but wouldn't work if there was any wind.
