Grrrr..

I have no idea what the heck is going on here, but no matter what I do, my 360 can not detect my PC!

I have made no changes to my router, by a few months ago, I formatted cause I got a new PC. Fine and dandy. Now I am running Windows XP Pro SP2, and installed Media Player 11 (I was using Media Connect before, but can't find that now). It will simply NOT share.

My PC can see the 360, and can literally dance around all day. But the 360 will not find the PC, it keeps on failing on the tests too. Does anyone have an idea? it is driving me insane!

Assuming your PC's firewall isn't blocking anything....... (just tell it to trust local machines)

Have you tried taking the option 'search for another computer'? I had a similar experience where my XBOX was looking for EP01:1 (and wouldn't connect), so I did 'SFAC' and it found EP01:Elliot ... not sure what the 'Elliot' portion is, maybe a share-point or something else I've changed recently.

I have even tried turning off zone alarm, and still no dice.

I turned on sharing under MP11, I even tried Zune... still no go!

I was thinking it was just me, but strangely, a friend is having exactly the same issues with a different router.

I am using RP614V3 I believe. I tried using port forwarding, and forwarded port 1 to port 60000 using the PC's IP as the server.

I literally turned off zone alarm all the way, launched MP11, and then tried again. It STILL cant find the bloody thing. This is starting to make me very angry.

Anyone have anymore ideas?

You don't have Windows Firewall Running currently do you? Does the Xbox get on Live all okay?

When Zone Alarm is running, make sure the Xbox's IP address is allowed in the Zones section under Firewall in ZoneAlarm.

I have my router setup with static ip's, the xbox is in the DMZ
I've put the ip settings on the xbox to manual.
It's own ip
same subnet
same gateway
DNS set to manual (same as pc).
Go to the COMPUTERS setting on the SYSTEM tab, De-select it. (if it's highlighted).
Go to MUSIC/COMPUTER then continue.
It should pickup your pc.

What info is it giving when it fails the tests?

Goodness, it is finally working!

I actually completely shut down Zonealarm, and it still wasn't having it. So I did as suggested and added the ports... still wasn't doing it.. I then restarted Zonealarm and the 360, and then tried it, and the 2 finally greeted each other.

I can finally stop pulling my hair out :D

Thanks for the advice all :)
