I would like to buy a fishing/leisure boat.

£40 and £70 to go charter boating for a day? You must not have been for a while. You're looking at £100 for wreck fishing these days from Newquay and also Brighton/Littlehampton. It's not realistic anymore, such a silly price. Half the skippers I talk to often want me to book for two half days aswell, meaning you get half the amount of time fishing because you spend four hours of the day travelling out to the decent wrecks!

Oh, and not to mention most of the bloody wrecks in the channel and off Cornish waters are ridiculously over fished and have been trawled to oblivion.

I'm going out on Silver Spray from Poole on Saturday, The plan is to hit the mid channel wrecks for Pollock, Cod, Conger and Ling. Looking at the wind I don't think we'll get out there. I paid £70 for that trip. The skipper I normally go with out of Lymington changes £50 for a day on the inshore reefs.

This guys pretty much always booked as he's suppost to be one of the best in the business but you can see you can go to the wrecks for £65 http://www.deepsea.co.uk/boats/tiger_lily/moreinfo/angling_spaces.htm

Still even if it was £100 I expect that the cost would still be less than using your own boat.

Cannot help on the boat, Rotters, but next time mix up some paprika with some butter and salt, cut slits down the sides of the fish and rub it in half an hour before you cook them.

Squeeze lime juice on to serve. You will not be disappointed. :)

A rib is not a comfortable craft for sittin and fishin they tend to ship water when sat still and in a bit of a sea. If I was serious about fishing then I would check out something solid with a keel. Perhaps pick up a hull of some kind and then a reliable diesel - course this would be a longer term project/ hobby not done today and something else tomorrow. We had an old ships boat with a van/marinized engine - cost absolute peanuts - but was slow and steady. Outboards are thirsty things. Whatever you do get the hull checked out and not to say the engine too
