Hi guys

just wanted to see what core voltage your I7s were running OC'd under both stress test and idel.

ive just been tweaking with my 4.8ghz as just had BSOD tonight and its upto 1.400v just ideal - im thinking thats prob a bit to high?

also what the max you run for 24/7 use? without risking damage

Just clocked upto 4.8 today and I'm still playing with voltages, but so far I've managed to drop it as low as 1.36 stable (still needs a few hours prime).

Had a little play at 5ghz today too, had it sitting pretty at 1.39v until I got BSOD after an hour. Starting to think I have one of the better chips!

Edit: now testing stability of 4.8 at 1.334v :) Temps circa 54c!

My max use is still up in the air, though I still use speedstep so 80% of the time my chips doing about 0.9v @ 1.6ghz.

Roughly:

Phase/Duty = Extreme
LLC = Ultra High
CPU Compat. = 120%
C1E = On
Other C states disabled
CPU Mode = Offset 1.32v
Offset Mode = 0.06v

Though unless I manually drop vcore in AISuite II it munches up 1.44v, manually dropping it so far I'm stable at about 1.32v, I think it could go lower.

If anyone has any advise on how to translate what I can achieve with AIS II into my bios I would be most thankful. Seems what ever I set as my offset it will jump to 1.44v under load.

Depends on your temps and if your running offset or not. Around 1.4v is seen as a sort of safe max, but many many people are running upto 1.52v without issue.

Edit: I knew I said 1.52v for a reason, this is supposed to be from intels spec sheets:

Edit: 4.8 now stable at 1.312v :D

I wouldn't go over 1.4 24/7 unless you are on water. Use offset voltage and make sure you are 4hrs+ Prime Blend stable. If you're getting BSOD #124 it means you need to adjust VTT/VCORE.

I've seen plenty of people complaining that their chips are degrading after several months of use at 1.45V+.

That 1.52V figure isn't the safe max Vcore by the way, it's the highest value of VID the CPU can report, ie the biggest value the VID register can hold.

Don't go by that number, it's completely unrelated to what's safe to use. I think it's something like a 16bit register and 1.52 is the value equivent to the register being full. I grew up out in the sticks, but I live in Inverurie now.
