Im currently running a old but still blisteringly fast for me......i7 3770k overclocked to 4.6 on air.

So someones got me a ROG 450 f motherboard for xmas which seems to be a good budget choice of a board.

So i am well and truly out of the loop with cpus these days.

What sort of Cpu should i be aiming for at the budget end but at least equivilent to what i have please.

Any advice welcome....

ps im thinking at least a 2700x?
Cheers people

There better be II in end.
Because original is branded scam garbage with worser VRM than in lowly Asrock B450 Pro4.
That outdated 2700X at stock could literally overheat that VRM good only for max 65W TDP CPUs.
Unless just wanting old hardware when bought, Zen2 architecture CPU should be starting point.
That's important especially for gaming.

not sure mate its from rain forest place shop so its easy to return

return the mb if u can as intels the best value and performance these days. The only reason to go amd is if you already had a am4 mb which saves some pennys.

i got the version II board so im good to go.......cant be assed to return it if its ok.......im gonna get a second hand cpu to make it more affordable.

what speed ram should i go for ?

Corsair CMK32GX4M2A2400C16 Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 2400 MHz XMP 2.0 High Performance Desktop Memory Kit, Black

is what i was going for but then saw its 2440mhz, but some other speeds are crazy crazy prices,

Didn't realise the 3700X was 'typically' £170, if that's a widely available going rate then by all means get that CPU, makes a welcome change from recent history where AMD have been exceedingly poor in the sub £200 category compared to a year or two ago.

havnt seen one for £170 yet!

sorry guys missed the last few posts for some reason i didnt get notifications....

was looking at corsaier cmk32gx4m2 2 x 16gb ram?

so i got round to putting it all together and its all running well, havnt oc or tinkered or anything .....windows 11 straight on it.....

anytips for a app to overlock to run with in windows.....i prefer this...

oh and absolutely no different in real world from the previous setup........i think a lot these days is on gfx card........cant upgrade atm as my card is worth more now than when i bought it a few a years ago lol!

just run the Asus Ai suite and only got a 18% increase!!!! on my old system I was getting over 1ghz o c per core.

i don't get how they rate these cpus is that good or bad?
