I7 7700k should I buy?!

The weakness of a four core cpu , similar thing happen to older dual cores years ago is if something starts in windows that uses a core then your fps and performance will dive. Also running at close to 100% cpu as in the bf1 example means the performance of everything is impacted when hit 100% not just bf1 etc. Going from 7 to 8 cores in game makes no noticeable difference.

Then when you compare prices ryzen gives you 8 cores 16 threads and intel 4 cores 8 threads. More modern games take advantage of this as do various productivity apps. Older games and apps tend not to but both produce decent frame rates. When I upgraded recently from my old i5 I compared an i7-7700k with the 1700 and decided the i7-7700k while fine now offered risks around future proofing.

It depends on your use and what you expect.
