Hello

I recently ordered and received this....

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

....and paid the extra for the 4.0GHz overclock.

Bios reports 3.82GHz. I understand from reading on this forum that I will only see 4.0GHz once the turbo kicks, in so been stressing with Prime95 v25.11 build 2.

CPU-Z Records
Core Speed BEFORE stress = 1619.2MHz. Multiplier x12.0
Core Speed DURING stress = 2833.7MHz. Multiplier x21.0

Does this look right to you?

Nah, doesn't look right. I think you want the ocuk support staff really though.

If using a newish version of cpu-z, and it thinks you're at 2.83, you probably are
If the bios reports 191x21, then you're probably at 4ghz

So yeah, both are reliable, and it's unfortunate that they contradict each other. Hopefully someone can shed more light, I'm betting on it being an old/corrupt copy of cpu-z

If you could post a screenshot of CPU-Z that would make it easier to determine what's going on. I bought the same kit and it reports 3.8GHz in BIOS but runs at 4GHz under load.

The numbers you posted suggest the clock speed is at default, as 133 * 12 / 21 would give you 1.59GHz and 2.79GHz. Make sure to load the profile again and check it boots with the correct figures, as if you have any problems it will restore to default to safely boot - this happened to me originally as my PSU wasn't up to the job.

Thanks guys. Here's those screenies....

I entered the bios to check to see if 'Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech' was enabled which it was. I turned this off (just to see what difference this would make in windows) and rebooted.

CPU-Z now reporting 3820.0Mhz under load.

Rebooted, and switched the turbo back on. Rebooted and now CPU-Z is reporting 4011.0Mhz under load (Multiplier x21.0). So all is good now, however, what would have been the cause of the prob is the first place?

1. Where are these 'profiles' please?

2. Is it possible to back up my current overclocked profile and if so how?

3. Should the 'Preformance Enhance' be set to standard?

Also have a new problem now (+12v), where I think my PSU is struggling, but I'll open a new thread for that.

Sounds like it had fallen back to the safe profile, which is backed up by the screenshots. By changing any setting and saving the BIOS you would have restored the overclocked settings, hence why it's now working.

As for loading an profile there should be an option in BIOS that's pretty easy to find (I can't remember where and can't restart just now). You can even load the backup version from the USB penstick they ship out with the bundle.

Anyway, I'm glad it's all working for you now.

I had read on here that I should receive a back up and that they some times forget, so I emailed them as soon as I made my order to kindly remind them to include the backup and AS5 (as I also read they sometimes 'forget' this too).

They wrote back saying that they do not provide backups and that everything nessasary will be provided. I replied advising I WILL need a backup as should anything go wrong I will need to use it in order to get back to the overclocked status which I paid for (without which, I wouldn't have a clue how to restore 4.0GHz).

Needless to say then, that my package arrived a day late, without a profile backup, without AS5 and without Batman Arkham Asylum & 3D Discover Glasses, which should have come with my graphics card.

Not happy.

The CS forum is the best place to start this. If nothing happens then bring it back.

As for "backup"; my understanding is that it is saved in one of the BIOS profiles.

Well despite sending various webnotes and posting in the customer service forum, I've not had a single reply (and its been four days now). I understand they may be busy, however, they wasn't too busy to answer my questions before I made my purchase, where I would receive a reply the same day (often within a few hours).

They still own me AS5, profile back, Batman Arkham Asylum & 3D Discover Glasses, so quite a few items that I've paid for and can't just forget about. On top of that, the system is blue screening. This could be due to needing a more powerful PSU, however, I'm not going to start spending more until I can actually get some support.

Does anyone have a managers/directors email address please so I can get this sorted and actually start to enjoy my very expensive PC?

No where is the description of the bundle do they mention a backup of the setting's and there is no need to back them up anyway as they will only change if you decide to mess about with the profile and save it or you flash your bios. Sure the AS5 is'nt tucked away under some packing as the tube is quite small. And as said above this is'nt the place for this.

I think jackhulk expect a backup of the settings on usb key because I recall seeing somebody receive one on the feedback section of the bundle.

You can make a backup if you look at my other post:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18059984

Don't update the bios though because the profiles are wiped and you can't restore them from the older bios. well you can but it warns you some of the settings may not be carried over.

if they don't get back to you with a ship date of the items missing, sent them a note saying you want to send it back under the DSR.
it's obviously not what you payed for.

Thanks Ruskie. I know for a fact via the feedback and posts on the forum that people are receiving bios profile backup on a USB key. So why do some receive it and others don't?

Thanks Jobe and that's exactly what I will need to do very shorty, as apart from rjkoneill replying in this thread (no doubt to save face), they have completely ignored me.

could you post in the customer support forum where i can help you out?

Well despite sending various webnotes and posting in the customer service forum, I've not had a single reply (and its been four days now).

Thanks rjkoneill but as you can see from my last post, I HAVE already posted in the customer support forum. It has actually been viewed twice now by customer service........but STILL ignored! This total lack of service and willingness to delivery goods that I have paid for is becoming a complete joke now and extremely frustrating.

Rjkoneill, please can you have one of the FIVE customer service rep's that have now viewed my customer service forum post reply ASAP please, instead of just ignoring it.

Or provide a direct telephone number for the manager so I can either arrange for my missing items that I've paid for to be dispatched; or arrange return and refund for the whole lot because I am fed up of being ignored now.

Thank you

I think you need to calm down a bit. Things can go wrong and I too have had orders that were delayed or needed support, but Overclockers fixed things in the end - they even credited back shipping because of it. The support number is on the main website, so that's a good place to start - often it's easier to fix things on the phone than dealing with WebNotes, emails and forums. Typically their service is excellent.

Also, what power supply do you have to be getting blue screens? I know when I first ordered the bundle my PSU simply wasn't up to the job.
