I7 950 4.3 Ghz Wall

well i boot and start w7 with 4.5 but is not stabile. when i stress the cpu the bsod gets in the way. i start the prime95 and after a few min bsod or freez the temp are 75-80

The only binning that takes place is if the CPU can run at specifications. Beyound that nothing special.

Bit of a update from my side.

I have three 950 CPU's and not one of them will do 200+ BLK.

Yet my trusty 920 will do 223 BLK just fine. All testing was done on water and very very noisy fans. Basically tempretures were not an issue on any of the runs.

Ram again was not an issue. As the sticks I am using are quite comfortable running 2000MHz Cas6 at 1.66 volts.

I am going to spend a little time later tonight with the best of the three 950's to see what I can get out of it. But unless I freeze the sucker I can not see getting about 4.2GHz stable enough to run Vantage Performance benchmark.

So q6600 looks like you have a not bad CPU there and the less I say about sayso's really good (no it is bloody good) bit of silicone the better - envy is a terrible thing. :D Any time you want to send it over here for me to play benching with it just shout and I will forward my addy. :D :D

what about that 5.0 Ghz? i manage to finih a 3d vantage with 4.3 ( 26868) and 4.2 (26005)
so you coud't go over 4.2?

I would love to but i destroyed it and the mobo it was running on :(

Did not say I am giving up - just saying that the 3 CPU's I have with me to play with did not want to make life easy and clock to 225 on stock voltages. Now all that means is we have to work harder to get where we want.

And most of the time it is hard going. But the reward at the end is worth it. :D Problem is you do not always achieve what you are trying to do. heh

Outstanding - added you to my MSN list by the way.

Now what is holding you back. Your ram or your BLK? Have you done any testing to see what is the max BLK you can get. I normally use 12x multi to find that out.

Could you post your un-core frequency too.

Forget Prime95

Your aim is Vantage do not get side tracked with any thing else.

Could you please post all your voltages from your bios.

I think you are very close to achieving your goal.

Ok - to get to 4.6 GHz you are going to have to squeeze another couple of BLK from somewhere.

Could you please drop your multi right down and try and find out what your maz BLK is. Set your ram at a easy setting. 9 9 9 28 is a nice relaxed setting to test BLK with.

Remember your aim is 200 BLK.

So do not worry about your ram being too loose or anything but getting your CPU to give you 200 BLK.

un-core has to be twice the value of the ram frequency. So for now keep your un-core as easy as possible.
