i7920 What is your vcore for 4GHz?

CPUz reads 1.376 Vcore (can't rem offhand bios vcore)

That's @ 4.2 (21x200) Do stepping

Watercooled

On a gigabyte ga-x58-ud3r (not the best oc'ing mobo, but stable at these settings)

If i get time i'll drop vcore and raise qpi/vtt and have a play for lower vcore

Temps idle in 22c - 25c room (yes i likes to be warm) 32-36c 100% core usage temps got into the 60's

Prime stable as long as i can be bothered to leave prime running lol

My setup ... rock solid stable, this runs a bunch of VMs that are accessed externally so it needs not to crash!

im currently at 1.200 V for 3.8. qpi 1.36 cpu PLL 1.94. cant get 4 GHZ stable at all.
any advice?

depends on your board really (and obviously the chip itself).

i'm using a gigabyte ud7 (rev1) board, so i found it wasn't the same as clocking on a asus for example (a friend had one and had to do different things here and there to get it stable at 4GHz).

for me, i use settings along the lines of (cba to go into bios to find this out):

Vcore 1.24v
qpi 1.255v
pll 1.7v
qpi pll 1.18v
ioh 1.2v (dual gpu setup, seemed to help)
ich 1.16v

with freq settings:

uncore x17
multi 21
bsclk 191
qpi lowest one without being 'slow mode'

hope that helps :)

i think my OC is being restricted by my MB. tested to see if i could get pc stable with higher BCLK, but at same CPU frequency etc.. i disabled the turbo boost in bios so multiplier is at 20x. bumped BCLK up to 191 for 3.8GHZ. and it wouldn't get to windows login. had to put qpi V up to 1.46 to get in, as opposed to 1.36 with 181 BCLK. wouldn't last in prime for a minute.

what mobo do you have?

gigabytes seem to prefer odd multi (21x for example) whereas asus seem to prefer even multi's. not sure about anything else though...
