Watching Ian Wright on TV.

I feel embarrassed when he is asked a question. I fear the answer will be more of a reaction than a thought process, generally flippent and uninformative. While fidgeting in his chair like a squirming molasc he quickly runs out of appropriate words for whatever he is trying to convey. In doing so he uses unsuitable colloquiallisms to try to cover up he hurried response which is swept up by his collegues to save his blushes.

His body language screams " Dont ask me another question please" yet that is exactly what he is being paid to do.

When the England team suffered a defeat to the Northern Irish last year during the World Cup Qualifier. Mr Wright again... looking out of the window as if to aviod questions that may be too tricky for him to answer, responded to a question about the tactics the England team employed with ...." I can't belive it, I aint going to say anyfin about that - " I have noffin to say"

The very fact that he is present on the show to give he summation make his response somewhat of a contradiction.

not as bad as that australian 400m runner who got chosen as a pundit on the bbc for the 2000 olympics! That was genuinely the most cringe worthy stuff i've ever seen.

He might not be the greatest pundit in the world, but at least he shows passion, which is better than the likes of Pleat who can't get the names right of his own ex-players.
I think Wrighty was fairly shocked after the defeat against N.I and didn't want to say anything he would regret.
Give me Wright over the likes of Redknapp, Sheringham, Gulitt, Wilkins anyday.

He might be a gooner but I like him, he's a character and he's passionate. Far more interesting than Alan "Boring" Shearer.

I enjoy him, he's always full of energy and whilst he's not the brightest spark I find he entertains me which I guess is a big part of his job. To be honest he does speak well when it comes to analysing players technique etc etc.

Everyone knows he's not the most articulate pundit around, but his passion more than makes up for this shortcoming, making him a breath of fresh air in my book. :)

Hansen should've gone years ago because he knows nothing, but he's settled in OK. I much prefer wrighty and lineker to him, I even prefer Lawro.

Schmeichel is getting the boot.

Personally I don't mind Wright, as it makes a change from what you normally get. As for his comments on the Northern Ireland game, well, he made one very salient remark when watching a video of the england bench.... "looking at that, you'd think Steve Mclaren was the manager".

I can see why some people wouldn't like Wrighty, but as I said, the passionate, jumping-up-and-down schoolboy approach will be just what the BBC wants come the world cup, someone for the fans to connect with.

Now that Venison has vanished from our screens, Lawro is my most disliked pundit. He just makes really bad jokes, and then looks round at his colleagues smiling like a smug Cheshire cat, looking from side to side, waiting for them to laugh and pat him on the back about how 'funny' he is.

he is the working mans pundit and says it how he sees it.

also hansen and and the other prat just sit there and **** of teams when they cant do any better

I don't mind Ian Wright either, at least he shows some enthusiasm and passion on screen, unlike a certain Andy Townsend, who I think is the most mind-numbingly boring pundit I have ever seen. I can't believe ITV even gave him a Tactics Truck... He has no emotion, he's like the Steven Seagal of punditry. Speaking of boring pundits, I remember literally lol-ing on discovering that the bald guy with the amusing facial hair on Football Focus and MoTD2 was actually Gavin Peacock...

I like wrighty, he may not speak good tactical talk but all the others are just so proper all the time, wrighty adds fun to footy.
I hated Strachan, especially when he did the "Strachan view" - What a lot of not only did you not understand a world he said because of his constant mumbling but he made the game seem soooooooooo boring.
I like having shearer on being a newcastle fan but I wish he would stop being so reserved sometimes, this one time when I think we won (Maybe against West Brom) he was on MOTD and he was like proper hyper you could tell and was interesting.

Pleat does my head in, id be suprised if he can say his own name right or does he think hes David Platt!?

Carlton Palmer gets my vote when hes on the BBC results show on Saturday, so media un-friendly it's embarrassing.

Wrighty is there for pure entertainment value, thats why they have a proper analysist like Hansen working alongside him.
