I'm in need of some adivce as the speakers in my Saxo VTR just can't cut it at high volume. As I mainly listen to bass'y music the speakers distort fast when I turn the volume up.

Now I have parcel mounted 240w Kenwood 6x9's which have made a difference since being connected (guy I got the car off left them in) but it still needs that extra push. The amp in the boot is a 4 channel 200w amp made by Tornado  .

Now most cars I go in that have subs in the boot I feel spoil the music. The only thing you can hear is bump bump bump and I want something to top up the speakers, give a little push.

What would you recommend I do first? Uprate the front speakers or dive straight in with a sub and new amp maybe?

The HU is a Kenwood KDC-W6027

Get a decent set of components (with a good quality amp & dont skimp on the wiring either) up front..

I was in the exact same predicament when I first got my VTR.

I decided to go for some JBL components upfront mounting the tweeters in the door panels see below.

Then I wanted the bass fill so I opted for these Kenwood 6x9 subs, the brilliant thing about them is you still have the boot space but done have to comprise with lack of bass as these offer ample bass for anything I play. Fitted them on to a stealth parcel shelf.

Got a choice really either put a 10'' sub in the boot ( i did this first and the system was to bassy for me couldnt really hear the treble. So i went to the 6x9 subs and I am very happy with the setup, might replace the rear speakers soon and maybe amp the components.

I can't see how I will improve the bass on my current 240w 6x9's Kenwoods. When I turn my HU up in volume, they seem to be the 1st to distort.

Is not enough power going to them from the amp (50w a channel). So would a new amp and front speakers fix the problem?

Yeah but there 240w peak not rms...Just get a good set of components (not a £30 set from halfords) for the front doors powered by a decent amp for starters..

In my rx all i have is a set of JL components in the front doors with a 12inch JL sub in the boot powered by a v12 amp and the sound is amazing (for the money)..Get good quality cable through out also!..

Didn't want to spend more than £200 on Amp/Speakers/Sub.

Your need to do some research on the net..
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for :)

I just stuck to what i knew where good makes (and what i could get a good discount for :p )..
One thing though..my RCA's came to £80 alone though.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Couldnt tell you if there any good or not but that amp wont run the components and a sub..its only 2 channel.

it would be alright but you will need another amp to run the sub or get a four channel amp :)

or get this versions of that sub as this includes an amp http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4216
