ok have just spent the last 5 hours testing my ssd and have come up with this
the fastest for me is in ide mode with firmware 000f
(that is because i multi boot but have found this)
this is the order in speed for me at least
from fastest
1 ide mode mutli boot 000f firmware marvel controller
2 ahci mode single drive 000f intel controller
3 ide mode multi boot 0309 firmware intel controller
4 ahci mode single drive 0309 firmware intel controller
i cant get ahci mode to boot in multi boot for some reason it messes up my MBR
so i have concluded that
if you have a single op sys and dont multi boot best to use ahci mode intel controller
if you use a multi boot system ide mode marvel controller is faster
i got this in multi boot with 000f firmware

it may well boot with intel controller in multi boot system and be faster if i
remove all my other OS and reinstall from scratch after the ssd is installed with firmware 000f on intel controller but in all honesty im happy with the performance on the marvel in ide mode cause its fastest in a multi boot system for now it seems. and i cba to reinstall this lot
boot menu is
1 win 7 64 ssd
2 win 7 64 hdd
3 vin vista 64 hdd
4 win xp 32 hdd
5 ubuntu
just seems to work best for me so hopefully itl help someone
added out of interest i couldnt change firmware to 000f in windows mode in multi boot or dos mode i had to disconnect all other drives and single boot to ssd and then it would only update in dos not in windows . dunno why but i tried it 4 or 5 times in windows . and a dos based iso cd was the only way
