Afternoon all,

I have just found an old PC I can use.

Its a P3 600Mhz with 512MB RAM and a 20GB HDD (Can add another 20GB).

I have installed XP on it and taken away all the crap and its actually running ok with 18 processes and 90.6MB RAM usage (including NOD32 and windows firewall).

What could I do with this PC, any ideas? It's quite an old motherboard so i don't believe it will be upgradable.

I have it set up next to my current PC on another monitor, so I could probably just use it for typing stuff but that seems a bit boring :P

Thanks.

You could use it as a server for files, the web, iTunes, pretty much anything.

You could experiment with Linux on it without the fear of accidentally wiping off your XP installation by flubbing the partitioning process. ;)

Do Folding@Home no matter what. :D

wow you wrote all that
why not write it all in one post instead of like 8 or 9?
i read that folding@home uses unused processing power, will this slow my comp down?
also when all the cpu is in use then what will folding@home use? :D

READ IT. It tells you everything there.

No I didn't write it, and it's in many posts to attempt to section it out properly (As well as the fact that you can't have more than 4 images per post)

Zefan got it right. The forum software only allows 5 images per post. Dividing it into sections makes it easier to write a table of contents that links to the relevant bit.

Nope, that's the beauty of it. It only gobbles up the cycles that no other processes are looking to use. If you've got sufficient RAM you'll never even notice it. :)

FAH will drop down to whatever is left, even if that is 0%.
