Identify the shroom

As a little side note, it is said by some that these mushrooms are one of the reasons why we have santa dressed in red and white, have flying reindeers and use fir trees as xmas trees.

That's right, xmas was inspired by druggies! :D

That is most definitely a Fly Agaric, an extreme Hallucinogen.
. :p

It's nowhere near extreme (unlike Psilocybin, which is the main chemical produced in true Magic Mushrooms) - the most you will get is a lucid dream and a lot of tummy ache - even then you need to eat a fair bit of them to have any effect..... That's the reason they are still legal to buy as a rubbish legal high in most headshops.

they should never have made the other mushrooms illegal in the first place, it was a total farce, but that's another story!

either way, if regular magic (or otherwise) mushrooms are anything to go by they're 9/10ths water. You take 3.5g's dry so seeing as that puppy is fresh if it weighs in at 35g get him in a pan boyo ;)

Arent these class B or something once you have picked them?

Edit:
Since April 2005 it has been illegal to pick or possess mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe. This legislation does not affect the genus Amanita muscaria (Fly Agaic). However, the preparation of hallucinogenic mushrooms in any way, i.e. dried, crushed, cooked, or brewed into tea, causes them to become a Class A drug. The penalties for possession or supply of a Class A drug are severe.

Looks like your fine as long as you dont dry, cook, crush, cook or brew it :)

Given that whoever you quoted there doesn't know UK law I'd be inclined to ignore your advice for a number of reasons...

Fungus (of any kind) which contains psilocin or an ester of psilocin

is a Class A controlled drug, no ifs or buts.

good job the op's mushroom doesn't contain any then...

But yeah reading the source page is hilarious, it's one of those "drugs will make you rape your mother" type things :p

His edit is actually correct. Unless prepared as food, or dried, etc, this particular mushroom is perfectly legal.

Lets just get this straight to stop all the incorrect posts ( which are again just proving my point about how mis-informed some people are with regards to drugs)

The Fly Agaric in the OP is LEGAL to buy/use in the UK in both fresh, dried, food - in fact anyway you want it. It DOES NOT contain anything illegal - so you can do whatever you want with it - even stick it up your Grannies nose. You can buy it fresh, dried, powdered etc in loads of shops in the UK.

The Magic mushrooms (which are a totally different mushroom and strain of fungi) - which contain Psilocybin - are in fact banned dried, prepared or cooked......If fresh - there isn't a problem. This was spelled out perfectly in the law from 2005 - but has obviously been misread or misunderstood by most people.

Hope that clears up all the rubbish posted here.
