Ok so I'm a noob but better I look a fool on the interweb rather than in the real world :p My exhaust is blowing but I can't see where the centre section ends and the pipe for the backbox begins :o

Could you kind folks have a looksee below and let me know what I'm asking for when I get quotes. I think its the tail end of the mid section but I could be wrong.

It the sooty blob just before the clamp thing where its blowing incase you were wondering :D

Thanks

It looks like its the centre section thats blowing from that pic, but its possible it could be the back box, its hard to tell from that pic alone.

Are there any other pics I can thake that would help identify it?

Even with closer pics it would be pretty hard to tell until the clamps removed, it does look like a hole in the centre section from that pic to me, but when you remove it, you may find the back box is also gone.

Ah I see. Cheers. Probably best that I get someone with ramps to have a poke around. From this pic I can now atleast see that it is the mid section with the holes in it and that the join between the two is where I thought it was :o :)

Gonna stick my neck out and say you need middle and rear sections.
BOOO!!!! ;)

TBH I'm tempted to give the pipe leading into the backbox a couple of good pokes with a screw driver as I'd rather get them both done if they need doing rather than having one done then a few weeks later having to go back.

I am fairly sure if you simply say you want both done they will snatch your hand off regarldess of what it needs, so I wouldnt worry about the screwdriver bit. ;)

The center section is fubar'd. However, the backbox is not exactly looking healthy, and will very likley be fubar'd if they try to remove it from the center section as slip joints tend to weld themselves together.

Um, when a muffler "slips over" the center section and is "joined together" with the muffler clamp over it, what else would you call it? :p

Look at the second picture and you figure it out...tell me what slips in where...
;)

Not too clear in the picture given due to corrosion, but the red arrow is pointing to where the muffler pipe ends. It is slipped over the center pipe and crushed by the muffler clamp to hold it in place and create a seal.

Standard procedure on exhaust equipment.

[edit] Much better picture.....

The back box (muffler) pipe ends the other side of the clamp to where your pointing. The centre section has that ball type joint on the end of it and the clamp pulls them together...no slip joint, no crushing...

LOL, the screwdriver thing was to see if it was corroded, not to make holes so I feel better about getting it replaced :p

It looks like two flanged ends butted together (probably the worng term) and held in place hence the curved shape of the clamp but to be honest I haven't got a bloomin clue!!

I think I'll get both done... If it wasn't for insurance I'd consider a nice cat back system :D

It is, same setup my 406 uses, much better than the crappy idea of slipping one pipe inside another
