Talked to an IDF blokey once: complete and utter denial - just like the Israeli government line. He was well indoctrinated.

Do you really expect him to admit being part of a band of child-killing thugs?

What about the consciencious objectors? They would tell you the opposite; that yes the IDF commit atrocities on a whim and can expect the full backing of the regime in Israel.

Consider the source of the original allegations and factor that in to if you feel they are the whole representative truth of the situation.

No smoke without fire. And in this case, it's a blazing bonfire.

Wihout a doubt some of the IDF will have done some pretty awful things, happens in almost every conflict sadly. But the question really is, is it endemic and is it sanctioned? Considering the nature of the IDF and the nature of Israel as a generally democratic nation with freedom of speech (for Isrealis at least) then that sort of thing would be very hard to hide.

Aye, it is direct from serving soldiers testimony.

Some of it isn't if it is from the same source. It is testimony from a soldier that didn't serve in Gaza but "heard it from a friend". Also told to a very left leaning journalist and then reported in a left leaning paper.

"One account tells of a sniper killing a mother and children at close range whom troops had told to leave their home."

"In another cited case, a commander ordered troops to kill an elderly woman walking on a road, even though she was easily identifiable and clearly not a threat. "

What the ****?

Funny how people were so quick to rubbish the UN where possible and just ignored any left leaning source as a fabrication or just satisfied themselves with the argument there wasn't enough evidence to be certain of anything. And of course defended the IDF's actions of stopping journalists as a necessary measure to prevent deaths of journalists.

No doubt the majority of Israeli people won't give a crap because Hamas have killed half a dozen people with rockets.

Which turned out to be a bona fide accident. There was a communication breakdown between the guy who cleared them to leave the building and the sniper atop the building.

The question is, how easy would it be for some radical soldiers to get away with a lot of murder? Very easy I reckon, since there doesn't seem to be any process of accountability.

Why was this mistale not investigated? Was it reported? How do we know these soldiers arent lying? I know if something like this happened in Iraq with British soldiers it would be investigated.
