I interpreted that video as a man throwing his toys out the pram because he wasn't asked if they wanted to go to war.

You think we were going to stop the Germans, the Japs, and then Stalin if he thought he could get away with it, without the Americans helping us. It's your lack of intelligence that offends me. Don't tell me, you're 12 years old. You haven't done it in History at school yet. Lets hope that that IS the case. For a person to carry such a playground attitude into adulthood is pretty scary. No, it didn't. It was the beginning of the final stages of the end of the Roman republic, but it was neither the end nor the beginning of that, let alone the end of the Roman empire (which fell about 500 years afterwards).

The Roman republic was in a bad way before Caesar was born, let alone before the mounted a military coup and declared himself dictator(*). It was going downhill rather badly - it could even be argued that Caesar saved it by imposing reforms, or at least was working towards doing so.

I'd like to be able to go back and ask Caesar what he was planning to do. Was he planning to step down when he thought the republic was back on a sustainable footing? Or did he intend to end the republic and return to monarchy, with himself as first king of the new dynasty?

If you studied any history, you would probably have seen the term "Allies" in connection with WW2. That's because the winning side was comprised of a number of allied countries, all of whom were necessary to winning.

We bought USA help in WW2 and it was bloody expensive. I'm not just talking about lend-lease. I'm also talking about the land, the cash, the technology, the political influence. Did you even know about any of that?

Each of the Allied countries saved each other in WW2, while saving themselves. It was not the USA riding its gleaming white charger to the rescue of the world. The people in power in the USA at the time had a clue and knew that it was much better for the USA to go to war on foreign soil alongside allies than to wait for the war to come to them later, when they wouldn't have any allies. Or maybe no war at all, with the Nazis just nuking an unprepared USA in the early 1950s. Or maybe the USSR doing it, depending on which came out on top. Or, best case scenario for the USA, a wreck of a world with nobody to sell anything to because nobody came out on top and they all ruined each other.

I'm also including the other Allied countries, particularly the much overlooked big one - India. A lot of Indians fought in WW2, under the British flag.

Also, I can't believe someone has posted that they "wouldn't mind" a one world government. Ever read 1984? Watched Equilibrium? Gattaca? That's close to the reality we would have under the one world government.
