If I said to you that I always lie. Am I a liar or am I not?

After all, I am telling the truth about being a liar... But if I am telling the truth, I am not a liar... Now I have lied about being a liar.

Thoughts?

Interested to see how GD's wisdom tackles the liar's paradox.

You haven't posed a paradox , try again. a paradox is a statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or
absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth, orrrrrr it's a number of physicians who like sky-diving.

You're still a liar, you're just telling the truth about an individual statement.

If you had phrased it as such: "I always lie" - it would be more of a paradox, because that sentance in itself is also a lie, even if you're telling the truth.
 
Recently I've wanted to start a thread on liars because one person is getting worse.
I work with a liar or should I say fantasist?
If you're going to be a good liar have a good memory, we catch this person out every day.

I used to go to school with a compulsive liar. Anything from fighting an army of gypsies who gave him a dirty look when walking past his house, to recording a studio demo with infamous and now largely irrelevant rap posse So Solid Crew. I did wonder what was going on with him to make him lie so outrageously, he was a massive arse though so i didn't waste too much time on it.
 
We don't know as the sentence isn't complete, as you are not attributing the lying to anything.

People are making an assumption you are attributing the sentence to the action of speaking the sentence, but that is jumping to a conclusion that is not within that sentence.

If you said "I'm lying about saying I'm lying" then you are telling the truth and lying at the same time. :)
