If I was on Home

you play games against people on the internet anyway
you chat to people on the internet anyway

so whats wrong with doing those things on home ?

Good work on starting a thread about a potentially interesting topic of debate, but then kicking it in the shins before it even got moving, it's truely impressive.

Home to me is a potentially genious application for the PS3, but i won't be using it, why? I hate the Sims, second life all that malarky, Home is a slightly less questionable version of "Second Life" or even an almost "Sims Online". Both of the games listed have a huge user base, just because i'm not a fan of the genre and many of you aren't doesn't mean it won't be hugely successful.

Once again only time will tell, i'll be sure to log onto it once in a while just to see if i can find "johnny five" and congratulate him on his failings.

i believe home as a lot of promising implications. Obviously they are going for the second life thing but thats successful so why the hell not!

be interested to see what they do with it

ditto, could be interesting especially when it comes to clans, setting up like a clan den and using it as a launching pad for clan practice / matches. And all the rest of the social interaction / trophy room stuff aswell.

To me HOME is nothing more than a quirky and interesting take on game lobbies. Just adds a bit of fun to it imo - nothing sad or nerdy about it as the OP seems to suggest.

Remember when the internet was seen by some as being 'nerdy'? Funny how these things always make their way into the mainstream and then they are considered no more geeky than watching TV... In fact I will go as far to say I bet the OP will be eating his words once HOME has been out a while!

Remember Microsoft Chat? I remember going on it when I first had the internet, and instead of just lines of text it put your chat into cartoons. Home just seems like a modern day version of this, maybe i'm missing something

lol yeh I remember that was funny.

The only thing that worries me is how it'll work with pricing. They've said some stuff wil be free but then you'll have to pay for some content. I want to know exactly what will be free and what will cost money and how much it will cost. because if you get this thing and find out the only thing you can stick in your room for free is a killzone 2 poster or something it will suck.

I'm worried if it will be mandatory in future. Sony wants it to compete with Live after all, in terms of games, lobbying, chat, updates, etc.

not at all

as joebobs says its just a revamped game lobby

you dont "have" to do any of the stuff you can do. its just there if you want it , cant complain when your not paying for it either
