Hi.

Currently run Vista ultimate 64 bit, just found out I can get win7 pro 64 free through university.

I code c# in visual studio 2008 and for the Android platform using Eclipse and the Android dev kit. These are all I NEED to have working on my pc - can I assume they will?

Yep. There's always compatibility mode as well, but I see no reason why any of those wouldn't work.

VS 08 and Eclipse both work - I know that for a fact.

Some Vista software does not work on Windows 7, even in compatability mode. As Burnsy said the vast majority of things work but it's always worth checking if you can't risk it.

I run Virtual XP from within Win 7, from there I run Eclipse for my Java.

Yet to find any drivers that work in Vista not work in 7, some even work better in 7 than the OS they were designed for.

It is funny to find some driver doesn't work in windows 7. The only way to find out whether if those application work in windows 7 environment is to run vmware workstation and test it out!!

I have endless problems with VS 2008 on W7 Ent x64. It tells me there's an update and then continually fails to install it. Apart from that, it's fine
