If you buy a PS2 are you supposed to be able to plug it into scart socket

Nice one on wasting the seller's time. There was nothing wrong with the console, you must have hooked it up as youre moaning about load times.
Idiots like you make using ebay a real pain in the arse.

Is it normal to take 5 minutes+ to load a game ?

Maybe on the PS3 but def not the PS2 (just kidding).

Something seriously wrong with that what condition is the disk in?

Component cables on the PS3 are awesome I picked up the official ones for £8 the other day.

Herp a derp. My HDTV that I bought last year has RCA input.

And if your TV has a SCART socket then you could have bought an RCA-SCART adapter for about £3 on ebay.

All you needed was either a phono lead > 3.5m jack, or an RCA > Scart adapter. Both can be had for a couple of quid online. (I just checked, the RCA/Phono > 3.5mm lead can be had for £1.10 online)

You've got an extremely old TV, which is part of the problem, i'm very surprised it doesn't have full RCA input.

The PS2 does usually however come with an RCA > Scart adapter.

You bought a second hand console, what do you expect? Man up!

In fairness if it's taking five minutes to load anything this disc drive is probably knacked and thus worth returning.

I haven't got the correct sockets you idiot !

I used my PS2 with a component lead and the picture was far superior to scart or the RGB cable.

Yeah I know it's a superior picture than Scart but for example I have a PS2 pimped with 320GB HD, Toxic OS, Scart Lead/Component Lead and have used component on my 50" LCD and used RGB on a 14" Portable CRT. The picture is more pleasing on the 14" CRT because the resolution on PS2 is quite low and there's no AA. The natural bluring and smaller screen size of the CRT wins over Component for me.

It's just my opinion :)

Thanks :D One game didn't load it just said no data

The woman I bought it off said things like I think some of the games are still shrink wrapped. There was only 4 and they clearly weren't. I think she must have bought it from a car boot sale.
