Banning lorries would be good.

Speed limits in the country don't mean anything, they're just a guideline as nobody enforces them anyway if you're not being plain stupid.

A school near us has a 20 limit outside it, but when the schools isn't open (evenings and late afternoons) it is still 20, but the road is wide, with a field at one side of it and barely any houses, and you still get pulled for going over 20 even though before the 20 and after the 20, the limit is 30. They could use those stupid flashing warning signs to vary the speed limit...

Plus, a lot of people are not capable of judging weather they can move to a different lane. Cue some idiot doing a 'legal' 120mph in the overtaking lane in traffic, and someone pulling out into said lane (BANG). You aint stopping any car on the road from 120mph in a hurry.

Sounds good in theory but any time I see variable limit signs or the 50 is up on the m11 due to conditions next to no one takes any notice and carried on at 70+.

The limit doesn't need raising to 80, lots do it anyway taking into account the over read they know they will be fine. I'd be happy for them to raise limits on motorways if they had more cameras to catch people when the speed varied due to conditions and to monitor driving standards. So they can catch the people sitting 1 foot off my bumper while I'm passing a line of nose to tail lorries

change every where to NSL zones. Raise the NSL to 90 on dual carriage way and 120 on the motorway.

Keep 30 zones for residential areas

There's a 20mph zone near me which I think works quite well. It's a one-way road with a school on it but the road is quite narrow with lots of cars parking on it as it's mostly residential.

There are plenty of these zones which make no sense though. Also, the abundance of 50mph limits near me really annoys me. The accidents are caused by people ignoring the speed limit anyway, so how on earth is lowering the limit going to help? You just penalise those who drive responsibly.

I'd suggest motorways to 80mph - it's like that in most Europe and the world isn't ending contrary to what some "omg speed kills" people might have you believe - I find 70mph pretty sad for modern motors on motorways.

I think the motorway limit should be 80. There are a lot of roads which were 50s that went down to 40s and a lot of single carriageway roads that were NSL, but have been lowered for no discernible reason. Apart from that, I don't have too much of an issue.

Only a 20MPH penalty for fog, only 10MPH if you have front fogs.
