I wasn't trying to clarify his 'sin', but it prompted rather small discussion so all is well I guess.

Fair enough. I'd be surprised if most people hadn't broken at least some of the Ten Commandments although as you say if you exclude the religious ones that may be a much smaller number.

What if the Earth is Hell?

As Aldous Huxley said "Maybe this world is another planet's hell.". If that's the case then hell seems to be what you make of it i.e. it can be quite pleasant here but that largely depends on your mindset.
