If you were a millionaire..

So you wouldn't be able to spend that 250k over your lifetime? Geez, I'd spend it in a year. :p.

I could spend £250k in an hour, no problem. It's just, sometimes it's nice to help others. It is a dog eat dog world out there, don't get me wrong. But there is some self happiness with helping others.

You pass it on to ungrateful kids , im not against an odd donation but you cant be giving big chunks away when you can put them to work instead.

I understand where you're coming from. If you've worked hard for the money, then yes, I agree with you. But if you've won the lottery, then, I'd just give it away.

I suppose that different but even so 1 mil is worthless as a retirement fund so if you win 1 hang onto it, you need 5+ to put your feet up :)

Defiantly. Especially with how the economy is going, I'm guessing everything will be a lot more expensive in a few years time. 5+ would be comfortable. But as with every human, it's never enough. Always wanting more haha. :D

I'd be the most boring millionaire ever. Apart from travelling at first, my life and possessions would remain 99% the same as it is right now. Actually, I might just go ahead and buy that Cerise Red Le Creuset cookery set. Hell, I might do it anyway :p

First thing I would do is help my parents out & then I would visit one of my work friends with a huge cheque so she could retire. With enough left to treat herself & family to what ever they wanted. Her young son has been diagnosed with cancer, & if I could do anything so they had less to worry about I'd do it without hesitation.

After all that I'd like to travel the world.

That's really nice of you. I wouldn't say I'd be that kind and retire someone.

Poor thread title is poor. You expect a mansion for a million AND to be able to do crazy things? Sorry, you're way off target.

Thread should be renamed "if you were a multi millionaire".

Agree - it's been long since you could live off a million, or even several (talking interest here).

If I was a multi-millionaire I would buy a nice farmhouse in France and retire, 35 years early!

And have a socking great rally stage in my back garden!

trying but struggling to find a link to the ex F1 driver who has a tarmacced track in his garden complete with pit/garages. It looks absolutely amazing.

Keep making more and more money and never stop.

My philosophy for business is exactly the same as war.

I think that if I had £2mil in the bank, a nice house, car, wife, kids, went on holidays, had parties, living off the interest, I would become extremely bored extremely quickly. Contentment is a disease (Hence the quote in my sig).

Though I know no-body will understand :(

uhmm, me! retired a couple of times already, and now bored again. once you have the car, bikes, dogs, pub, house etc and some decent holidays, what then? neither of us drive fancy beemers, or drip in gold, he drinks stout and smokes rollies, likes a funny new tee-shirt, i'll buy a pair of boots but what then? The boot cupbard is full, the charitys are paid, the pub in the garden hasnt been used for a year, the house is shiny shiny with stuff, and i'm scared of heights.
Honestly, really thinking seriously of going to do the Phd.
