If your a gamer, what's the point in upgrading to Sandy Bridge?

I also will be waiting for the 2011 socket to come out fancy a nice 6 core CPU but it all depends on prices at the end of the day, just hope they are not silly 980x prices

Does any one know if the 2011 socket chips will come with out the silly on chip graphics?

Also is it true that the 2011 socket will feature quad channel ddr3?

So going by those anandtech benchies posted by "Mrkrugga" I should see quite a performance increase going from the setup in me sig to a sandybridge rig.
Any opinions on this?

There is going to be some 50% increase in framerates if you game at 1680x1050 with no AA/AF applied. Now apply those to to decent levels. say 8x/16x for example and take 1920x1080 into account, you're becoming GPU-limited. In this case the improvement is going to be insignificant and probably not worth the total platform upgrade.
