What that famously released in the mid 90's Metal Gear solid?

Of course, the list is gash.

No list of Top Ten games of the past decade can NOT have REsident Evil 4 in it, Crysis, either GT 3 or 4, or indeed PGR 3 or 4, or Battlefield 2, or Red Dead Redemption.

As for Half life 2 being number one, the single most over rated game in history, it never gets started, the weapons are dull, the set pieces devoid of excitement and it is just plain boring.

Mass Effect, Morrowind and The Witcher should be there, possibly Bioshock also.

I would have chosen Vice City over GTA III as well.

No farcry? Would have also had psychonauts, blood money, thief 3 and beyond good and evil in there somewhere. CS seems to count which would mean Deus Ex should too (2k) but I wouldnt count either as its not the last 10 years.

Good that KotoR, HL2 and SotC got in this very pointless list.

mario galaxy and Okami. Fail.

Even as someone who hates Nintendo, Mario and everything they stand for, I they both qualify, I've never played a more unique game than Okami and Galaxy evolved platforming as a genre.

To be honest I wouldn't include Fallout in the list, it's good yeah but not in the top 10 of the decade.

Its pretty fair to say that nowadays almost every mainstream review is influenced by the amount of advertising power the publisher has if a negative review was written

When was the last time you read a highly negative review for a big budget game on more than 1 website..........

Serious? Okami was brilliant :/ Galaxy fun too, certainly not garbage, but I wouldn't put it as a top 10 for the decade.

Why was kotor using a beta hud?

Also gta3 was ok but gta sa was probably the best gta and i reckon that was best game of the decade. Also they missed out on x2 the threat i had thousand plus hrs on that.

Hl2 was ok but it was no way best game ever of the decade they were far better games out there.

The first release was out in 2000. Betas are pre-release and obviously don't count. Fail you.

Mario Galaxy and Okami both deserve it to be honest, as do the rest of them.

it's not just the advertising, is the previews/pre releases which has been going on since reviewing began.



Negative reviews = you don't get previews and you don't get review copies. If you want to write a review you have to go out and buy the game on release day, which mean you've missed the boat as everyone went to someone who already had it.

Hmmm seams like this was a bit of a rushed feature from IGN.

Granted as with all "Best of..." list there is always going to be debate but it's not exactly like they have given details of the criteria of what makes a game cream of the crop for the past 10 years of gaming. Plus they seam to churn out "Top 25 Games for..." features every year or so now for each platform and their selections always contradict each other.

For example in there Top 25 Games for the PS2 Ever list Shadow of the Colossus was No. 4 behind MGS3, GoW II and GTA: SA at 3,2 & 1 respectively and none of them were on the list but Shadow of the Colossus was at No. 2 for best of the decade. Ok its a great game but the reasoning is a tad off here don't you think.

GT 3 and 4....more of the same old - unworthy, and if you're gonna nominate PGR at least go for the best version (PGR2)

List seems pretty good to me, not sure why someones posting this now though since the article came out about a year ago.

Most of the games on the list were very influential and original, so dont moan if your personal favourite isnt on the list.

I'd probably put Half Life 2 at number one though.
