IGN PES 2008 REVIEW!!!

Lol at the ronaldo diving vs england :p

Can't wait for it... Gona need to buy a 2nd controller. Shame about 0 hdtv to play it on though... :(

Player likenesses are a bit hit-and-miss - Ronaldinho is on the money but Frank Lampard looks like Stuart Downing and vice-versa

Hate it when journalists get amateurish things like incorrect name spellings

If I get this game most likely on the PS3 but only if its a decent price (£30)

You can get it for the PS3 for £30 if you look around on the internets :)

I'm happy that the slowdown doesn't hinder the gameplay, it seems to be quite minimal. Even if it's bad in cut scenes I'll put up with it but next year I hope PES improves greatly.

It’s by no means perfect: the frame-rate drops when the screen gets really busy, usually during a quick clearance when the box is flooded with players or, occasionally, during a replay. But, when you’re actually stuck into the action, it’s likely you won’t really notice or indeed care. Of course, some players will think that a drop in frame-rate on a machine as powerful as PS3 is an absolute travesty and, in some respects, they’d be right. But if a flaw as incidental as this prevented said players from buying PES 2008 altogether, they’d be missing out on the most realistic, intelligent and enjoyable football experience on console yet.

Good conclusion, hopefully they fix the slowdown like they did last year though.

I don't read too much into reviews either these days, well not the highscoring ones, best just to play the game then make your own mind up, it's a shame they rushed out the demo as the final game is not really like that, so some will be surprised :)

Must admit really loved the look of the Wii version, but not enough to make me want one :D

I'm not comparing to other PES games but other games within its genre reviewed on that site this year, hence the line:
compared to this years other footie title
It will be interesting to see what the main ign site review is like as this one was the UK version.

Well I've just looked at the Fifa review (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826338p3.html) and I really don't see what you're on about. Fifa scores highler graphically as it does look better. Both score the same for sound, which in PES's case is correct (I have no idea about Fifa's sound so won't comment). The lifespan is greater for PES but that may simply be down to things like the Master League and the online side of things, where PES had a great community last year (though spoiled by the cheaters). I guess only time will tell if Fifa's online side will match it and whether that score will be right or wrong.

Edit: And I wouldn't expect the main site to have a review any time soon. America don't get Pro Evo, they get Winning Eleven and usually a few months after the UK version has been released.
