There are no medical reasons that justify banning pork but not other meats such as cattle, goat, lamb etc. The most likely reason that pork is banned in the quran is that its copying the jewish dietry law. And that law came about most likely as a way to differentiate the proto jews living in the hills from those valley dwellers, later called cananites, who did eat pork.
